Newbie:-)

Hello all!

Want to introduce myself briefly.
Just bought a very mint Freelander 2 sep 2012 from a very good friend of mine. It's a Dutch one specced as Prestige, has a 2.2 Td4 engine with auto box with electric heated leather seats, nav system and Alpine soundsystem. It was a one owner car, bought by my friend in 2017 from the main dealer. Had it's services always at main dealer and yet only covered 96.000 km.

Will collect car in april when I'm in the Netherlands.

I'm on the Fullfat forum for a while since I am a Range Rover owner for many years; P38 from 2008 till 2014 and since then the L322 Td6 Vogue which I really love but unfortunately is rusty Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry hence the buy of this Freelander 2.

Some upgrades are on my wishlist: heated steering wheel and Park Heater. Will do all the maintenance and repairs myself, so hope I get some good information from you Freel2 members Bow down And of course will contribute with my experience and knowledge Wink

All the best! Thumbs Up

Hi my name is Dave and this is my first adventure into the world of Green Oval ownership. I have finally took the plunge and purchased a 2011 Freelander 2. I know my way around a set of spanners having been an HGV spanner monkey in a previous life and from what I've read on that there interweb I might need those skill frequently ( wish me luck Laughing )

Hi and welcome, if you've brought well and the motor has had it's
regular servicing (with the correct parts) then you may be pleasantly
surprised in the reliability of the Freelander 2,
Enjoy your motor. Thumbs Up DAVE.

Thank you Dave, although the vehicle was purchased as having a "full service history" like an idiot i didn't check it fully ( school boy error Sad ) I have since discovered that the service history is from a general garage in West London and not Land rover. and to make matters worse the garage has since changed hands and the have no record of what's been done or in fact no record of the car having been serviced there Confused. I have since started to plunge money into it in an effort to catch what I can e.g. Cam belt and water pump changed, power steering reservoir and fluid change, 4 new tires and the efforts continue. Time will tell.

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame
HI

HI
My name is Will and I have just bought a 2007 HSE in tamboral flame. My local garage had it in stock and they have been servicing it for the past 10 years, and it has a FSH and the belts etc have all just been done. I trust them implicitly with all my vehicles and have been using them for 30 years and saw it at the back of the garage when i was having my current car worked on. It had just been traded in by the current owner as the rear subframe was rotting and they were putting a good second-hand replacement on but there is surface rust under the rear end of the car which they showed me - seems to be common with these cars.

Its not going to be a main driver so I will have some time to treat the surface rust behind the wheel arches etc to get a few years more life out of it

cheers

will

2010 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Bali Blue

Hello! Smile

I've been lurking for a while now and thought I should finally say hello! After having a D2, D3 and then a Disco Sport, I bought a 2010 FL2 GS just over a year ago as a second family car and an off-road toy for myself and so far I've been really impressed. I don't need to weep each time I visit the petrol station and so far it's kept up with all the 'big boys' when on the green lanes, and in some ways it's more fun to take off the tarmac as you really need to think about what you're doing and fine tune your skills.

So far I've had the cam belt changed, new throttle body, haldex service and pump replacement and I'm just about to do handbrake cables and rear brakes. I've replaced the interior with a heated electric one from an HSE but still need the CCF edit made to get the heated seats to work.

Hope to be able to contribute to the community and learn more about the car.

Cheers,
Graeme

Hello all you clever folk

Hi. Ricardo, in a place where things don't rust but melt in the sun.
Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and experience - I hope I can do the same.

Introducing my 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 SE automatic. 220+ thousand km, Baltic Blue, Almond interior, fair condition and needing some maintenance. I'm the 5th owner of this one, and I'd like to get 10 years out of it, exploring the wide brown land and having adventures: nice ones though, not hot smoky ones or sad oily ones.

From the service history, looks like the first owners towed a caravan (electric trailer brake giveaway) for 60k over 2 years, 3 dealer services, then sold it. 2nd and 3rd owners daily driver over 5 years, intermittently serviced it between 70k and 170k in generic shops. 4th owner's project car, put in an upgraded diff and haldex service at 195k, services and repairs at a rover specialist, family and fortunes changed upwards and he sold it to me at 208k.

I've had the timing belt & water pump done and a service at a specialist shop, with an indifferent status report, so I'll take it from here, thanks.
