I'd be pointing the finger firmly at the new clutch / flywheel combination.

Regretfully I think you're right and it echo's my own thoughts on the issue. Thanks. |

A 15 year old car. Have you had any of the engine mounts changed yet? They all have rubber components and will be pretty much worn out I’d think. There is the possibility that the engine assembly was moved a little during the DMF/clutch change and this could have finished off an already failing engine mount. |

The engine mounts were considered and were inspected but no visible issue was found with them. There was also the fact that the vibration only occurred in a narrow and fixed rev range, whereas vibration from failed engine mounts could be expected to give vibration in all gears and over a much wider rev range. However it still has to be worth bearing in mind. Thanks |

If the vibration wasn't there before the clutch and flywheel were replaced, then it's most likely down to something to do with those items.

Was this a Landrover Dealership or an actual specialist ? I think you need to more than just look at it ![]() ![]() |

is it a vibration throughout the whole car or more like shaking in front axle / steering wheel? |

The steering and front axle are fine. The vibration is throughout the whole shell of the car. |

This sounds somewhat similar to the vibration at around 1800 rpm that has plagued many owners of automatic FL2s, my own included. No one has yet come up with a solution so it will be very interesting if a cause for your problem can be found. |

Thanks, I Like Chips. I recall reading about it possibly being the toque converter in one of the many threads on the topic but perhaps your use of 18,000 rpm may also have been a contributing factor! ![]() |

Yes a bit heavy on the pen with my revs. All I can suggest is you find another gearbox specialist. One who has had success with fixing the problem. Out of interest what solution did your specialist suggest. Maybe better to start another topic |

Thanks to everyone so far for the replies. My own thoughts still centre on the clutch and flywheel replacement as, before they were changed the car was smooth throughout the rev range and in all gears. The issue only arose after the clutch was changed. The new clutch manufacturer was consulted and asked if they had ever had a similar issue reported to which they said no (but then you'd expect them to say that). The problem is always though that its in this very narrow rev range, only when under load, and that the rev range drops 50 in each gear (4th, 5th and 6th). The problem may exist in the higher gears but isn't as noticeable because the engine load is proportionally less. |
