Are you sure you have a HSE? 13my HSE has a camera as standard.

All the part numbers for the bits to add rear view camera to a Gen2.1 infotainment system are in this thread

Turkey 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Alaska White

Hello, I owned a 2010 FL2 td4 Se few weeks ago, and I find this forum very helpful. Thanks a lot to those who contributed so far.

One question i couldnt find the answer for within this thread is that whether i can plug and play a reversing cam to my original satnav unit. If I find the fakra cable extents from the satnav and wire it to reach the tailgate, and feed the electricity from the reversing ligth, will the reversing video pop up automatically when I'm reversing, or is a further programming required?

I'm also interested in adding a camera button to the satnav screen, which is possible as far as I read in another thread, but my priority is of course reversing assistance through camera first.

My post in this thread on the 29th of July describes the changes required to the CCF (programming) required to activate the rearview camera.

The parking button in the screen is only for surround cameras as far as I am aware.

Thank you, now it seems that I have to concentrate on ccf programming.

Looks like I haven't posted this up before. Basic wiring outline for retrofit of the reverse camera on 13MY onwards. Should be useful for someone.

Is there an alternative camera that can be used? It seems the stated one is obsolete and unavailable

DH52-19G490-AE

I i can find a 19G590 if that is compatible?

I guess you're saying it's obsolete because there are currently no on Ebay?

JLR Classic still list it, so it's not obsolete just yet.

https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/l...rking.html

But personally, I wouldn't buy it new for £250.

LR040108 - DH52-19G490-AE
LR056515 - DH52-19G490-AF?

The part you have linked (HX73) is the new style camera for NGI infotainment (2017 ish onwards), it is CANBus based and NOT compatible with the Freelander 2.

I think it's going to be a waiting game to see if one comes up on eBay, its not helped that a lot of European breakers have stopped supplying to the UK.

Good luck!

Thanks Vanny, I couldnt even find it on a website so that is handy! But youre right, that is a bit spendy.

Ive taken a chance on ebay, ordering a whole tailgate handle with the camera, bracket, loom etc... waiting on it arriving to make sure all the parts are as i require 🙈 2014 Metropolis in Loire Blue

Hi
Just picked up this thread as an just fitting a new tailgate switch to my facelift 2013 XS.
Genuine part LR083610 comes with an additional cable and fitting which I think is for a reverse camera.
Photo attached.
I knew next to nothing about car electrics and it's probably wishful thinking but if I manage to source a genuine camera DH-52-19G490-AE
connect it up with my spare lead and get the car's computer tweaked to accept it - will it work?
My car does have the Gen 2.1 Navigation screen.
I have read the thread about Fakra cables and loom in the headlining etc. and not desperate enough for a camera to want to take down headlining just wondering if there is a relatively painless way to do it.
What additional parts is my vehicle likely to need.I
Thanks

Looks like you have the link lead that goes from the camera to the tailgate harness. This is probably the hardest part to get hold of, but only a small step on the way to getting a rear camera installed. You'll still need the tailgate harness, fakra lead, camera, holder and holder clip. Then install it all.

Thanks!
That's what I suspected. Not sure I want or need a camera enough to tackle it!

Always surprises me that Land Rover didn't put the same harness etc into all chassis on the factory line and then it would be so much easier and quicker to produce all the model variants. Same with the wiring for door and mirror puddle lights. Suppose it's all driven by the cost accountants. Then again they put footwell bulb holders into all models but then removed the bulbs on all models below HSE! FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey

There were around 115,000 13MY onward vehicles made at Halewood. I would estimate (really off the top of my head number) around 20% included a camera, so that's around 92,000 without a camera. Considering just the fakra cable, the purchase of the pre-terminated cable and inclusion in the harness would cost around £4 (that's a more accurate number based on experience).

So that's about £368,000 just for that one wire. And doesn't consider weight saving or the piece time to plug both ends in at the factory. Alright, hardly scientific, but it gives an idea that when you're talking high production volumes, there are big savings to be had by leaving out unused cables.

Interesting figures which make sense - and yes the accountants' job is to squeeze out every penny.
Also a good thing from JLR point of view that it's not too easy to upgrade more basic models, margins are usually higher on top spec versions. Although I doubt if they were high on the run out Metropolis version as it is so well specced and the price at the time seemed reasonable in comparison. FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey
