Slightly off topic but could someone give me advice on a torque wrench as I also want to take the wheels off for a good clean and I am a bit put off by the manual saying that you have to use a torque wrench ( which I have not got) or have ever used. What is wrong with just using the wrench with the freelander I assume that there is a one in the boot!!

Argos sells a cheap torque wrench for £20.

I have a similar one and have used it for around 3 years just to tighten wheel nuts. Dont use a torque wrench to loosen the wheel nuts, use the one in the boot.

If anyone uses a torque wrench more than a few times a year. I and a lot of other independent tests can recommend the Halfrauds professional ones, and all their other sockets/drivers as well for that matter.

They are about 50-60quid (depending on torque range) and beat a lot more expensive ones in independent accuracy & quality testing in the likes of Ride magazine and several car ones.

I have no connection to Halfrauds and would not recommend anything I don't own/use.

So do I, when it's the same thing over and over again. I hate PC's, never looked back since I bought a Mac.

They are a lot more, but you get what you pay for in this life mostly, with a few exceptions of course.

Trouble is that Macs are now PCs with Mac Operating systems so maybe the reliability wont be so good for much longer

Think current MacBooks start at 750quid, and work well for a laptop, I think you may be talking about a top spec MacBook Pro which start about 1400quid which is what I use.

For a basic laptop so long as you are not video editing an 'ordinary' MacBook at less than a bag of sand is infinitely more reliable 'generally' than anything running Windoze.

Continuing the Off Topic ...

If you want total reliability (well, as total as possible where computers are concerned) then buy decent hardware and install Linux on it, assuming you know how to work it. It's not difficult, just different, and any modern distribution (eg Fedora or Ubuntu) should be easily installed and maintained by anyone with a basic level of clue.

Failing that, get a mac. If you don't need the portability and already have a screen and USB keyboard/mouse kicking around, the mac mini is good value. I'm typing this on an old PPC mini Smile

so i spent £29 at screwfix and got a Hilka 2T trolly jack, for the putting on and off of the alko secure wheel locks, which need the wheels to be perfectly aligned Confused

Just tried it on the car and it doesn't even lift the rear wheel off the floor on the FL2 Laughing think i might have to look at other options Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

3 tonne quick lift designed for 4 x 4's c/w quick lift from Machine Mart at £53.99 inc. VAT on page 212 of 2012/13 catalogue.

Had mine for nearly 5 years and has been faultless over this time. Used it to lift the old style 3 litre Shogun with no problems, have rescued a caravan whose wheel came lose so had to lift it above normal height to release the wheel trapped in the wheel arch.

You can try it at Halewood if you can wait that long.
