buy one , jack your car up then crawl underneath for a while , if your still alive post on here so others may buy one.

£7 seems a bit cheap but you never know it might work Confused ... buy axle stands with the money you save. At work

With jacks/axlestands etc always buy the best you can possibly possibly afford.
Having had a jack 'go' while under a heavy 4x4 I can tell you it's not a pleasant experience. Admittedly it was the jack that came with the motor and was a few years old but still......that *SPANGGGGG!!!* noise coupled with the several inch drop will live with me forever.

Also I would check the jack can go high enough. 4x4's need a higher lift than most motors...... Thumbs Up

Looks uncannily like my jack, which I think I paid about £20 for from Halfords, years ago. Certainly does the job but would always use axle stands as well. Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!

I have found that those jacks do not have nearly enough lift and have an alloy "racing" jack with 450mm lift plus a heavy duty 2.5 ton with 530 mm. both of these are fine.

Cheers for all your thoughts on the jack

I believe its on offer and normally retails are about £25, which is still cheap

I would get some axle stands anyway as the wheel/wheels might be off for a while whilst cleaning them Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I have got the Halfords version of this jack and agee with Bryden, not nearly enough lift so it has been relegated to my everday 100,000+ miles old Rover 214Sei in Burgandy(aren't they all).

Replacemant is A Machine Mart 3 ton high lift designed for 4x4s which has lifted the back of the FL2 even when loaded with tools and recover gear used again when acting a rally course car.

Sorry not sure how to create a link to Machine Mart but Goggle will do it in about 5 seconds.

Slightly off topic but could someone give me advice on a torque wrench as I also want to take the wheels off for a good clean and I am a bit put off by the manual saying that you have to use a torque wrench ( which I have not got) or have ever used. What is wrong with just using the wrench with the freelander I assume that there is a one in the boot!!

I used the wrench from the boot to tighten the wheels and stepped on it to achieve the correct torque Laughing checked them the day after At work

Aluminum rims : 133 Nm = 1 ft bar with my clumsy boot on it. Never tighten them more than you will be able to to unslacken at the side of the road during a rainstorm.
Defenders have a folding wrench that allows it to be a long bar for undoing but only works as a short bar for tightening. At work
