Air con servicing

My air con is not as cold as it was last year, I think it needs servicing. What does an aircon service consist off? What should I be looking for in a service, are there filters/seals that need replacing? I see lots of places are offering a service which consists of a leak test, lube and gas for about 50 quid. Is this ok or should I be paying a little extra for an anti bacterial cleanse of the system too?

Is it better to go to an LR dealer/Indie or are Kwikfit just as good? Thanks all for your inputs. Bow down Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

I have been told that the AC needs re gassing every 3 years to keep it efficient - re gassing also tops up the lubricant.
Personally I have found the independents as good as anywhere and if there is a leak it will show up when the system is pressurized and you only pay £40 -£50, instead of £80 but you don't get a free coffee! Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

Hi,

go for an independent. The air con service is done by an automatic machine and it does not matter who presses the button.Do n't go for those self charging kits. The air con service consists of extracting of remaining gas together with small part of oil, vacuuming, a leak test (which gives you no relevant results) and filling of a required amount of new gas together with few drops of new oil.It is not a bad idea to change pollen filter as well and perform an antibacterial evaporator cleaning - this can be easily done by your self using a spray you put on the floor and set the air direction to recirculation.

M.
