Don't know how good it is yet, because I've decided to refresh the paint around the edges where it's worn away. As soon as it's dry, I'll refit and report back.
But boy can you hear the road noise without the tray fitted !!

That looks like a good solution to a known issue. Personally I’d have also wrapped it in thick black polythene/bin liner, to protect it from oil saturation. Thumbs Up (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

That's what mine looks like, but it's adhesive-backed so I didn't use fasteners. It's held up for years now.

It is adhesive backed. I just refitted the fasteners to plug the holes.

Is this exposed to any high temps? Bought some of that acoustic padding and tested it with a lighter and it caught alight Corrado VR6 Mystic Blue - Gone

Well it's right under the sump, so I'd say it'd get pretty warm, hence the foil. It says it's resistance temperature range is -40 up to +149 degrees C.

Get something that's rated for the engine compartment. The foil lining will also keep it from getting saturated with any leaked fluid, which also seems like a fire hazard.

Did the pan with that foil lined acoustic stuff. Did notice that in the original set up there is what looks to be a drainage hole in the top right corner and left it clear

Good idea to leave a drain hole . I'll do the same.

Did mine this afternoon. Washed the undertray with Screwfix No-Nonsense degreaser, and applied the self-adhesive insulation after it dried.
Easy job.
Now to see if it makes a difference. Jules

Yes, cleared that hole before refitting to the vehicle.

I have to say the engine does seem a little bit quieter. SWMBO confirms this and didnt know about the undertray mod.

An easy mod - the self-adhesive backing sticks well to a degreased undertray. Jules
