Does the pad make much of a difference? Jules |

Mine had to be replaced after a garage incorrectly put back the oil filter and it became oil sodden. I can’t recall the part number but will dig bill out but it cost about £80 and the stealers we’re questioning if I should bother. |

Having recently become an FL2 owner my car did not have a sump tray fitted.

IIRC, it would be a sound reducing pad,

There is no acoustic insulation on the sump tray on the Si4. I have added acoustic insulation everywhere else, including in the engine bay. There are some comments in this thread on engine bay acoustic insulation let alone the rest of the car.

Don't imagine it would have a massive effect. Think I spend the £80 or whatever on better things.....🍷 Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

It may make a difference. Ford did a good job designing the acoustics of the Freelander. I have stuffed my car with insulation, but have noticed that if you don't get it right the car sounds wrong. A bit in the right area can make a huge improvement.

Mine got destroyed by a PS fluid leak, I replaced it with some automotive sound-deadening mat with adhesive on the bottom and metal foil on the upper side. It's cheap.

That acoustic insulation looks like 3M Thinsulate used around the rest of the car in small amounts. It will work on higher frequencies, but the diesel clatter is a lower frequency.

It’s an absorbent pad like you get in a spill kit. Absorbs fluids that would otherwise pool on the pan. Corrado VR6 Mystic Blue - Gone

Hey, why not phone up your local LR parts department and ask them for the part number and the price or does it not work that way in the UK? |

Go to a breakers and get the sound deadening pad from under any bonnet and cut that to shape. |
