If its coming from the drive belt area could be a bearing in either the PAS pump, alternator, air con compressor, or belt tensioner? try taking the belt off then run the engine if the noise goes then its definateley one of the above.

I agree, most likely is Alternator front bearing, they can howl just before they seize and break the auxillary belt. |

Could be the alternator pulley clutch. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

In a hunch I changed the power steering reservoir and it’s a lot quieter.

PS fluid is green central hydraulic fluid, not red Dexron ATF. Red ATF will damage the system. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

WRONG fluid, change it immediately for the correct fluid or you will be in for a new ps pump very quickly! (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto.
