Don't use copper grease. its not suitable for brakes and this was advised years ago in the automotive industry.
It reacts with Alloy and steel when Salt gets into the copper element it creates a galvanic element.
Use ceratec brake grease. Jaguar x-type sport gone

Freelander 2 GS manual 2013 only time will tell !

A wear lip on the disc can cause squeal with new pads, especially if they are a different version than what was in there before.

This car will wear the discs pretty deep as it goes through one set of pads. I haul some heavier loads and do some towing in mountains so my discs won't quite last for two sets of pads, so I just replace the discs with the pads. Also good to have a little extra meat in the discs for heavy loads, hills, towing (thermal inertia).

I'd guess with benign flatland driving the discs could last through two sets of pads.

As others have said, a frugal apprroach would be to file the lip and maybe polish the the disc faces a bit. If the lip interferes with the new pads, that may never settle out on it's own.

Less frugal would be to get the discs turned, if you R&R yourself and take them in that might be cheaper than new discs. But you'd want to assess them and decide if they'd have enough meat left (after being turned!) to last through the new pads. You don't want to have to replace the discs before the pads wear out, unless maybe you're retired with more time than money on your hands!

If copper grease has been used on the slide pins then, ironically, they can get stiff as the copper grease can get very thick over time. I prefer to use Ceratec. Jules

If you mean the thin U shaped pressed metal things that sit between caliper and pads as on VAG vehicles
like these anti- rattle plates



then no, the FL2 does not use them or any type of shim - its just pads sliding on the caliper Jules

The parts description says they are for an Evoke, not FL2.
Don’t know if they share the same caliper.

Ignore that they are fitted to FL2! (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Dunno m8

But if you look up Freelander 2 you will see there are no anti-rattle shims

@jules, correct but that is on the front & what are the LR002526 for? The rears have anti rattle shims fitted that I posted. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

My pads, both original JLR and EBC, had a shim material bonded to each plate and one of each pair has a spring clip that goes into the piston. Nothing else.

I just been out and checked and the rears do have anti-rattle shims. I stand corrected. Jules

My rears are exactly like the front (except the disk is solid, not ventilated. But I have the electric parking brake version - I dont know if the older versions had different pads.
