Radiator drain plug - not draining

Thanks to Nymagee_Boy for solving my problem.
https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic21093.ht...ator+drain

I'm part way through changing the cambelt and water pump. I wanted to drain the coolant from the radiator before taking the water pump off to save as much mess on the floor as possible.
The JLR manual says turn the plug 90 degrees anti-clockwise (Haynes gives even less info). I did that but nothing drained. I messed about with pieces of wire thinking it was silted up and searched on-line. I eventually found the thread above.

The manual does not give enough info.
Turn the plug 90 degree left and right a few times to loosen it up and lubricate the internal O-ring. Then after turning 90 degrees anti-clockwise, pull it out about 8mm and turn it more anti-clockwise. Coolant will drain quite quickly.
I needed pliers to pull the plug outwards.
I got 5L out in about 10 minutes.

The drain plug can be replaced.

 Jules
