Hi all,

Today I put down a deposit on a 2007 TD4 SE Manual in black with 120K miles. Collect it mid week.

I've come from a Mk7.5 Golf GTi PP that I sold after 4 years at the end of it's PCP to take advantage of the crazy used prices.

Have a new car on order for next March, but in the meantime, after spending the last month looking for the ideal Jaguar X-Type Estate, have switched to the Freelander as a stop gap.

Hopefully I'll find the answers to any issues / queries here on the forum.

Ok, please try not to be offended but I really dislike the freelander 2, it has some really awful design choices, was built to be as cheap as possible, and has very little thought put into repairability. Also the corrosion-resistance is a joke, making even fairly simple jobs difficult.

BUT as I am responsible for the upkeep of my Mother-in-law's 2008 SE and I intend to keep this car on the road for as long as possible, I thought it prudent to join this forum. You've all been quite helpful in my past adventures in freelander2 repairs, thanks to all of you!

Hello everybody, thought I would join up on here as I'm already a member on the fullfat sister site and my missus has just bought a Freelander 2 HST in Stornoway grey. What a beautiful looking car it is and well looked after. So I thought I would pop my head in to say hello and hopefully you nice chaps on here will be a valuable wealth of info just as they are on the fullfat site. I already have a few questions ask I shall be asking away at some point, nothing urgent though.

Well my Freelander 2 experience is ending prematurely .
Having taken the car into a specialist for a check over on Monday the list of faults was sizeable and potentially expensive (prop shaft not rotating - transfer box problem, window regulator failure, several oil leaks and 4 stored fault codes to name some). Spoke to the used car dealer that I bought it from and without hesitation, he said bring back and he'll refund me.
So Friday / Saturday this week will see it retuned and the hunt for a used car has restarted in earnest .

Hi all, have just agreed the purchase of a TD4 XS, not new to the brand as have owned four FL1's, two L series and two TD4's.
Current three door has clocked up 150k miles with few issues, suspension drop links have been a common trend with all four as has been prop shaft support bearings, then I got wise and fitted Hardy Spicer bearings rather than the blue box cheapies, last much longer.
Looking forward to getting some miles clocked up on this new to me version, £210 road tax is better than £340 for the old TD4!

Hello Everyone - just a quickie to introduce myself (before I start with the questions...).

My names Dave, I live in Cumbria and have just bought a 56 plate Freelander 2 HSE (which looks like it's been parked in a lake for the last 5 years ).

I'm no stranger to the LR marque - my other car is a 1974 LR Lightweight and my wife used to own a 90.
I'm ok with mechanicals (if I can't fix it with a hammer it's an electrical fault) but am a bit out of my depth with electrics (Lightweight has 5 fuses - full stop.). I've got a multimeter and can check for voltages and continuity but thats about it...

My other big engined passion is motorbikes - currently own (and have done for decades) a 1980 Yamaha RD350LC and a 1990 Suzuki GSXR1100L.

I'm going out for a poke about and a bit of a fiddle (with the Freelander.. ) and will be back later with questions...
