^^^ I guess it depends on the gap between each drain & fill Laughing
I did all mine on the same day - definitely made a noticeable improvement to the gear change.

However its a bit a a faff draining and re-filling over and over so I think, next time, I'll try a continuous drain & fill via the ATF cooler as described elsewhere om here. Jules

England 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Indus Silver

Hi, new to form! I had my auto box power flushed. It took two goes to remove the black disgusting goo and change it to a dark claret. Mark at Auto Trans in Lincs advised running for 5000 and going again. Hopefully it will then resemble fresh ATF. The auto boxes run quite hot.
Brilliant move by Ford to have the filter deep inside the gearbox......... Rolling with laughter
That aside, after x2 power flushes gear changes are smooth, especially on the down change 2-1.

Well I had the gearbox update done and a megaflush of the transmission and all seems well. The gear changes are much smoother and more instant. I got them to do a haldex and rear diff service too. All done by Dartford Transmissions. Top recommendation from me.

4 L for a single flush

Sorry Arese but that quantity is wrong. 4L will be enough for a “dump & fill” but for a full flush you will need at least 12L in my opinion.

A quick search moestr7v8 & you would have come up with this thread which will tell you all you need to know.

Yes this is what I meant by "single flush" .. what you call dump and fill. a nearly Full flush needs 4 times 4 litres dump and fill Thumbs Up In my opinion a 100% oil change would require to open the box.

Bad gear changes with hot auto gearbox.

I was glad to find other owners with a similar problem.
I have a MY13 TD4 with auto box with all of the symptoms listed by other drivers. However in Perth Western Australia we get temperatures far higher than what you get in Europe.
Bad changes and a kick in the backside when you take your foot off the brake at an intersection.

I started with a quick flush. Problem returned. Then I went to a full pump out and replace and the problem returned.

I was considering selling the car (on a cool day) until I found this post. However all of the information only mentions gearboxes up to 2015.

What about post 2015?

Thanks for the info everyone especially Alex.
I hope I can find a solution. I do love the car. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.

A good reminder to self not to do anything when too tired to think properly.
I will follow up with that software update and try to not embarass myself on a public forum again.
