Tyres at 24 PSI. 18 inch 'poodle' rims with larger 255/60R18 tyres are ok, but one really should have 17 inch 'non poodle' rims, especially when driving on these roads day after day a 1000+ km. 19 inch 'extra poodle' rims will knock the car to pieces. I have broken the roof rack twice on different holidays on these roads at 24 PSI.

Take your point Lightwater, but here in the UK we don’t regularly drive 1000+ km, almost from one end of the country to the other, and if we did, the road surface would be a little better than you have in Australia. So I’m happy to stick with my 19” ‘poodle rims’ as you so like to call them.
No doubt your set up is eminently suitable for the conditions that you regularly experience, but we don’t have an outback here. (Some will disagree)!
The cost in changing to a smaller rim, for me at least, wouldn’t justify any perceived level of increased comfort or performance.

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Stornoway Grey

Hi!
We bought a 2007 FL2 XS last week, mainly as a winter vehicle since we moved into the wilderness last year. It was cheap and high miles (153k) but in good shape and actually surprisingly nice to be in. Already done a few jobs and more planned, this place has been a great resource for buying and fixing, look forward to contributing Smile

Hi all! I usually hang out on the Disco 4 version of this site but having a look around here as SWMBO wants to replace her Disco 2 with one of the last Freelanders. I am doing a bit of research beforehand!

Many on this forum have come from Disco 2 in the past.

Major problem the boot just isn't as big as what you were used to. Mad

Something you will have to live with. Thumbs Up

We have had 1 disco 1, 2 disco 2's and 1 disco 3 in our past and all of them have been great cars but old age sets in with us and so we now have a freelander 2. The fact it is an SD4 with plenty of knobs and whistles to keep the brain alive makes it a great choice now that we are used to not towing diggers and carrying the heaps of stuff that used to go in back of the discos. I fancied an Evoque but she who I must obey doesn't like them to look at so the SD4 it is! and we still have the high sitting position that we are used to.
