Agreed no problems particularly with a CTEC. I plug mine into the rear socket between the seats which is always live using the cigarette lighter adaptor. |

There is always a "danger" but I charge mine in situ all the time; now, if you are using a high amperage charger, I'd recommend not leaving it connected once the battery is fully charged. |

My 2014 FL2 doesn't have a permanently live 12v "death stick" socket unlike older models, so I have to go into the engine bay.

I have a Victron 10amp charger. Smart chargers will vary voltage reduce amps unit float & then there will be zero amps until the battery voltage drops to the preset voltage, then start charging again.

Connecting the -ve charger lead to a remote earthing point is good practice for any charger, so that if connecting/disconnecting does cause a spark, it isn’t right next to a source of hydrogen. Especially important if it is close to or below freezing, when battery gassing is more likely. |

I have made my own charging supply.i have used 2.5mm cable with an inline fuse ,permanent connection to battary terminals out to the front grill with a weatherproof connector.then another weather proof connector back to my Aldi charger.all cheap and cheerful and it works .it also mean I can check the battery volt from outside the car. |

The smart chargers stop charging when they reach set voltage & will only start topping up the battery when it drops to set voltage. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
