Is it in the software of the FCDIM or in the IAM module?

I wouldn't waste your time on this Johan - JLR have killed the programme for 20MY RRS, which will no doubt continue with all variants.

If you’ve altered your Ccf for Connect And View to “fitted” then the option should be available.
If you not got the softkey option then you’ve possibly not wired up the TIM correctly.

In regards to InControl Apps whilst it appears JLR will not be offering it past MY20 they’re legally required to maintain the platform for quite a while as it was purchased by customers as cost option. I wouldn’t expect any more apps though. Customers would have to be offered compensation otherwise.

Software is in the FCDIM, IAM & TIM. As long as your FCDIM is an “E” variant you should be OK. MY15

.

Here's a scenario for you Stuart.

Brother has a DS, with InControl Touch Pro, and one of the Apps is (was) Tile. Having shelled out for the Tile(s), when the batteries expired in them about 5 months ago, he renewed them with Tile. Then there was an update to the Land Rover InControl App in iOS which he did circa November. To his surprise, the Tile App had been removed from the InControl suite.

The dealer was clueless. So he raised a case with the InControl Team at CRC. A month later, a CRC representative emailed him and closed the case, as the answer from the InControl Team was that "the relationship has ended". They wouldn't elaborate any further than that.

Similarly, Tile themselves were asked the same question, and after much to-ing and fro-ing, resulted in Tile repeating the same mantra....."the commercial relationship has ended".

This left him $100 US out of pocket, with 6 new tiles and no App on the vehicle InControl portal with which to utilise the Tile program.

So it seems that JLR CAN and DO delete paid-for options as and when it suits them, with no explanation or recourse to the customer whatsoever (as usual)!

It wouldn't surprise me that come 2020, there will be an "update" which gullible customers will download, which wipes InControl in its entirety. No explanation to the customers either. Watch this space!!

Unfortunately this sort of thing seems to happen all the time. I have a Samsung smart TV, well it used to be smart until Samsung systematically removed the content over the period of a year or so. This also made some accessories redundant. There argument was that the smart TV bit still worked, but the third party has removed the app/functionality. I knew a few people that returned the same TV under warranty as it was no longer fit for purpose.

For the LR it will be possible to put the old software back on, but a dealer won't do it and it sounds like CRC are being there usual helpful self. Push hard enough and you might get the global concerns team to make a vin specific patch in Pathfinder. It will be an up hill battle though.

Firstly I’m not JLR Customer Service,

Secondly, if you expect good customer service from JLR customer care your smokin weed!

Can I point you to a point I made in my original comment.....LR are really only “legally” required to maintain the platform “InControl” Apps not each individual app on the platform.

Am I happy about JLR’s handling of this technology “No”.

I’m pretty sure there’s going to be a lot of unhappy customers who paid for this feature so there will be fallout from this decision once it sinks in and JLR in their arrogant way will underestimate especially with the way JLR are travelling atm so hopefully something positive will come out of it, eventually.

Frankly with the way JLR are travelling atm the only reason this would have happened is their relationship with Bosch is more toxic than previously thought. They do seem to have fires burning on many fronts atm and with other manufacturers making “Car Play” backwards compatible , Mazda to mention one, JLR are only going to loose even more customers as sales are currently doing. MY15

So I complete this thread with the removal of InControl Apps from my vehicle and do so with disappointment that JLR really wasted an opportunity here! First they removed the “JustDrive” App and the final straw for me was the removal of Spotify!

Instead of producing a “top notch” product all they did was charge customers for something they never put 100% effort into particularly software updates for apps to keep up with IOS (in my case - IPhone).

“If your going to do something then do it well” - something JLR needs to learn.

So I will be changing to “CarPlay” on my GEN2.1 Infotainment system shortly which I’ll outline in a thread and on a positive side I can use the hardware from InControl Apps for this purpose and retain the completely OE functionality. Also positive is that all software updates will all be done via Phone on this system.

Goodbye InControl Apps, it’s was never smooth sailing and hello very shortly to “CarPlay”!👋

Should be soon been waiting on parts for other projects to arrive as they’re all interconnected with the CarPlay/Android installation.

Do you mean by “CarPlay” installing aftermarket android screen? ....it has been done for several years and quite successfully. All factory functions are preserved, but obviously it has Android auto and CarPlay. The cost is from $400 to $900 depending on the car model. There is no coding required and it is plug and play 2015 Range Rover HSE

I think Stu has a non-JLR carplay/android auto interface module. It goes between the FCDIM (screen) and the IAM (head unit with CD drove) and takes over the "Navigation" function on the main screen. £300 to £500 ish so a bit expensive for me.

As Vanny says Thumbs Up
Completely integrated into Gen2.1 system (pictured) but as I will reveal (eventually🤔) will maintain my factory navigation as I’ve altered the “plug & play” harness. As I’m doing extra work with the BSM & Ambient lighting which all involve me disassembling my centre console I’ve been waiting until I have all the hardware before doing the dismantling to instal.
Just waiting on 1 more item and I will be starting!

I am just getting up to speed on this topic. My car has incontrol (2 USB ports in the armrest), but I have not used it until today Laughing I have been playing music via bluetooth which actually works good (good connection, no issues with stuttering, etc.).
But incontrol is so ugly and useless IMHO. If there is a way to retrofit this incontrol USB port to carplay, it actually sounds interesting...although the OEM screen resolution might be the next bottleneck 2015 Range Rover HSE

Hey Stuartc, I've been watching your work.

Can you provide more details about what you have used to implement the Carplay? Which aftermarket product have you used?

Thanks!
