I wouldn't waste your time on this Johan - JLR have killed the programme for 20MY RRS, which will no doubt continue with all variants. https://www.ovalnews.com/2019/04/official-...arged.html |

. Here's a scenario for you Stuart. Brother has a DS, with InControl Touch Pro, and one of the Apps is (was) Tile. Having shelled out for the Tile(s), when the batteries expired in them about 5 months ago, he renewed them with Tile. Then there was an update to the Land Rover InControl App in iOS which he did circa November. To his surprise, the Tile App had been removed from the InControl suite. The dealer was clueless. So he raised a case with the InControl Team at CRC. A month later, a CRC representative emailed him and closed the case, as the answer from the InControl Team was that "the relationship has ended". They wouldn't elaborate any further than that. Similarly, Tile themselves were asked the same question, and after much to-ing and fro-ing, resulted in Tile repeating the same mantra....."the commercial relationship has ended". This left him $100 US out of pocket, with 6 new tiles and no App on the vehicle InControl portal with which to utilise the Tile program. So it seems that JLR CAN and DO delete paid-for options as and when it suits them, with no explanation or recourse to the customer whatsoever (as usual)! It wouldn't surprise me that come 2020, there will be an "update" which gullible customers will download, which wipes InControl in its entirety. No explanation to the customers either. Watch this space!! |

Unfortunately this sort of thing seems to happen all the time. I have a Samsung smart TV, well it used to be smart until Samsung systematically removed the content over the period of a year or so. This also made some accessories redundant. There argument was that the smart TV bit still worked, but the third party has removed the app/functionality. I knew a few people that returned the same TV under warranty as it was no longer fit for purpose.

Should be soon been waiting on parts for other projects to arrive as they’re all interconnected with the CarPlay/Android installation.

Do you mean by “CarPlay” installing aftermarket android screen? ....it has been done for several years and quite successfully. All factory functions are preserved, but obviously it has Android auto and CarPlay. The cost is from $400 to $900 depending on the car model. There is no coding required and it is plug and play 2015 Range Rover HSE

I think Stu has a non-JLR carplay/android auto interface module. It goes between the FCDIM (screen) and the IAM (head unit with CD drove) and takes over the "Navigation" function on the main screen. £300 to £500 ish so a bit expensive for me. |

I am just getting up to speed on this topic. My car has incontrol (2 USB ports in the armrest), but I have not used it until today I have been playing music via bluetooth which actually works good (good connection, no issues with stuttering, etc.).

Hey Stuartc, I've been watching your work. Can you provide more details about what you have used to implement the Carplay? Which aftermarket product have you used? Thanks! |
