Declared a 4/5-week old mystery solved...

A few weeks ago SWMBO wrecked her F-Pace, and as I'm not letting her use the XK8 Missile she's been using my FL2 instead - and since about then, the alarm has been going off at completely random times just about every day, including in the wee small hours.

Natural instinct (as opposed to, careful thought) was to blame herself as the (then) driver of my FL2 but joking aside I couldn't find anything untoward and was about to get the cavalry in on it to investigate with some knowledge greater than my own.

Last Wednesday I needed more room inside the car, so I used my FL2 for the first time in weeks, and while heading about easterly, a mystery object briefly appeared - the Sun - so I flipped down the sun visor and lo and behold... large, black, long-legged arachnoid hanging there.. naturally he/she got ejected out the side window, and a week on there's been no alarm activation at all... Very Happy

Of course SWMBO can't believe I fixed it just by driving it myself, who am I to say otherwise... Laughing Lexus RX450H - 500 mile a week commuter- I just couldn’t trust in a newer RRS or DS for that….
2009 Freelander 2 HSE... 155K miles, we’ve done 135k of those, has done brilliantly on the commute and staying firmly put as car two in the household
2002 Jaguar XK8 Coupe... fun, fast, ours for 12 years and owes us nothing - so staying with us too…

Just picked my FL2 up from he body shop after repairs. Had a prang two weeks ago, my fault. So new front bumper, front passenger side wing, headlight, fog light surround and headlight washer. Seems like a very good job. Happy to get her back and get rid of the awful Kia Rio loan car.

Off to a family function in Switzerland in a few weeks so had RCV in East Peckham give the motor a quick 'health check' before we leave - largely visual for lights etc, fluids, wheels off etc. Wanted to pre-empt and sort any issues that might crop up whilst on our trip. All passed ok, good to go . . . . . and no charge Thumbs Up
Then got in the car and explanation mark on the dash panel. Warning then appeared for low battery fob, which they then changed, foc.
It all visits to the Indie were that cheap Wink

Really nice spring day today! I think March is my favourite month of the year. Road surface temperatures return more often to being above the dew point, which means dry surfaces for the first time since October. Sun is returning and day lengths noticeable lengthening. Roads are still quiet as the tourists don’t return until Easter. What’s not to like! Smile

From your photo above, the roads in Scotland haven't improved much since I was last up there.

Went shopping at Tesco for essential groceries for myself and for three elderly neighbours with health problems. Tesco were quite good at limiting the numbers of people in the store and people were quite good at social distancing. The best bit was that Tesco were marshalling people at the tills to maintain social distancing and this meant that there was nobody behind me complaining that I had four lots of shopping and was holding them up. Well done Tesco.

Well finally got around to removing my roof rails today,
All went very easy too.
I do feel it gives the Freelander cleaner lines.

Had a new AGM battery fitted at a mates garage after mine virtually gave up due to lack of use, half unlocked the tailgate which wouldn’t open or close, so I couldn’t lock the vehicle.
Luckily it had enough energy to start and I’d already ordered the battery last week, testing revealed that it wasn’t holding charge. All seems OK now and the hit to my wallet was less than half main stealer prices. 64 plate TD4 SE Santorini Black
