Hi Badger -- I have had a go at that already, but not with any success. Have run out of patience for today but will try again tomorrow as Boris says I can't go out !! I was actually wondering if the screws were actually Torx rather than Phillips ( difficult to see ), but if they are I was wondering whether it may be possible to cut a Torx bit short and weld it at 90 degrees to a straight bar or screwdriver and then have just enough room to inch it round bit by bit -- Tomorrow will tell ! |

Well, it was a torx screw and after removing almost all the dashboard I managed to get a right angled ratchet bit inserted and I managed almost 2 full turns before it clamped the eyelet up tight. The screw was quite stiff to turn so it can never have worked loose so must have been like that since day 1.

Anyway, with it all back together it fired up straight away and everything is functioning---SO, Problem Solved --- well almost ! I think I may have damaged the little Ariel connector when I pulled it out as the radio wont find a station. OR, if I have inadvertently swapped the 2 identical fiber optic plugs could this give the same problem.? But the main thing is the intermittent problem is now a thing of the past ! |

Ian, My grateful thanks to you, and of course all who contributed. I think your prompting towards the earth points once I had found the link on the OBDII port was the main contributory factor. Just hope I can get the radio back to normal now. Anyway, I'm not going anywhere so have plenty of time !! |
