This is all lost on me... what is the point of the extra onscreen functions as they wont alter the way the car drives and who looks at the screen anyway?

1) If all of this is an empty topic, don't follow this discussion because they are words in the wind.
2) If it could interest "the altimeter" and "the compass" going towards the mountains or in the desert, you realize that it is a tool of life. It could be interesting information!
3) If you are in a point of the world and you have to communicate "your coordinates" to communicate an emergency. It could be interesting information.
4) If like me you have the dog, who sits near the gearbox and presses the "sand" program without your noticing, the function on the display avoids distractions. It could be interesting information.
5) The function of variable shock absorber is a fake.
6) The Haldex function is a fake.

Excuse me for informing you that you most certainly DO NOT need any EXTRA FUNCTION buttons on a FL2 MY13 to show that you are in SAND or any other mode as it shows on the screen directly in front of you on the instrument cluster.
Just knew that U in electronics would come in useful one day Thumbs Up

I think the bickering and name calling can stop right there. If you want to insult people online go elsewhere.

I have always apologized for my English language, and for this I rely on Google Translate.
Thanks to JulesK who opened this interesting discussion. I gathered some information from this forum and got to work on getting 4x4i on my FL2.
Unfortunately I am not a programmer and I have struggled to achieve this result.
I say to be very careful and not to copy what I have done.
It could be harmful to your car and in any case I do not answer for any problems that may occur. I risked! My car is a FL2 MY13

Extract from the CCF_DATA_L494_201400.xml file I copied the following line:

---------------------------------------
<group start="226" stop="226" name="GROUP_EUCD_CCF_4X4_INFORMATION_DISPLAY">
<title>
<tm id="@MCP_INFO_DISP">4X4 Information display</tm>
</title>
<parameter id="226_226_000_007" name="PARAM_EUCD_CCF_4X4_INFORMATION_DISPLAY" mask="0xFF" type="ENUM">
<category display="false" edit="false" scope="base"/>
<select>
<option value="0x00" name="UNDEF">
<tm id="@UndefinedApp"/>
</option>
<option value="0x01" name="FALSE">
<tm id="@DISABLED$I"/>
</option>
<option value="0x02" name="TRUE">
<tm id="@ENABLED$I"/>
</option>
</select>
</parameter>
</group>
---------------------------------------

And then I pasted the string into the CCF_DATA_L359_201300.xml file.
Which is my car's configuration file, just after byte 251

---------------------------------------
<group start="251" stop="251" name="GROUP_CCF_EUCD_BRAND_RESERVED_AREA">
<title>
<tm>JLR reserved area</tm>
...
...
</group>
<group start="226" stop="226" name="GROUP_EUCD_CCF_4X4
...
...
</parameter>
</group>

---------------------------------------
Save, exit, and reprogram the ccf.
- The Altimeter - Active
- The compass - Active
- Geographic coordinates - Active
- The Terrain Response Display program - Active
- The function of variable shock absorber - Not Active
- The Haldex function is a fake - Not Active Freelander 2 Y13 TD4 SE - Alaska White

^^^This can only help someone that's really interested and yes, it's always at the risk of turning your vehicle into the proverbial "brick" Big Cry . Glad you got it working, kind of a bummer to find out the haldex/shock absorber display functions are basically video placebos. I did do some rudimentary coding when I was in university many, many, many years ago (the punch card days Razz) and reading this code reminded me of the printouts that would be generated by the punch cards. Pretty cool stuff Thumbs Up , but as the old saying goes "garbage in, garbage out".......basically avoid garbage hopefully avoid brick! Wink

the lack of ride height/shock absorber isn't really a surprise as its designed more for air suspension as on the D3/D4//RRS/FFRR.... and even then its a little bit gimmicky but does give a very basic indication that all the suspension bags and sensors are working correctly

the lack of Haldex information (the padlock symbol) does surprise me a little, as this should illuminate green segments around the padlock, and when its a full green circle the padlock symbol shows locked. This function DOES work fine on the DS and the Evoque showing the drive being partially or fully transferred around the wheels (again a very basic indication but potentially useful anyway)

are you sure your Haldex is working correctly ? the padlock symbol should partially illuminate when you pull away quickly or when going round corners a bit too enthusiastically

If one is trying to work out which wheel is not pulling its weight, you have left it too late. You should have let your tyres down & planned your path out already! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

The RCDM doesn't send the correct message on to the CANbus on the FL2, which is why the symbol doesn't work. If I play an L405 can trace onto the FL2 bus then I can get the expected response from the icon, so the software supports it. I'll have to try an Evoque trace.

For anyone else going down the same route, the 13my head unit does have the software module for the 4x4i, but it's incomplete and glitchy, the compass will work for around 15minutes before getting stuck.

I'm really surprised this has worked. You shouldn't add the same field multiple times as this risks corrupting the CCF when compiled, you should find the group you want to change eg.261 and modify or replace that, not add a second version after everything else.

Vanny surprises me!
because if I add the field after the byte <group start = "224" stop = "228"
..
</ Group>
The display freezes and the JAGUAR icon that appears on the display only once appears as if by magic. Then the display remains locked with a blue background.
Try to believe ..

If instead I add the field after the byte <group start = "251" stop = "251" name = "GROUP_CCF_EUCD_BRAND_RESERVED_AREA">
<Title>
<tm> JLR reserved area </tm>
<group start = "226" stop = "226" name = "GROUP_EUCD_CCF_4X4_INFORMATION_DISPLAY">
<Title>
<tm id = "@ MCP_INFO_DISP"> 4X4 I
Everything is compiled, and that's what I'm here to reason with you.
If you have better indications for me, of the fields to insert, with the exact string, we compare. Freelander 2 Y13 TD4 SE - Alaska White

My point is that you should not ADD or INSERT but AMEND the field that is already there. All fields, used or not, have an entry in the XML.
