Anyone know what this is all about in the book and how do you get in there please. As I am now getting very curious Page 52. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

the Evoque which will have the same screen as yours has an extra functions button on the main screen which gives access to the ambient lighting, camera (if fitted) and other bits and bobs when available. So the 2013> Meridian screen FL2 will have the same functionality even if its not displayed as its not configured.

StuartC has plenty of threads showing him adding new features.

Diolch Rog but that's the issue. It's not on my screen by the shortcuts and tried the default action and still nothing

The FL2 doesn't come with any additional features like ambient light or cameras or 4x4 info etc. and was never intended to. But when they facelifted all the dash and screens etc they used the same hardware and software as the Ewok but it was never configured into the menu options on the FL2 screen and you wont get them unless the hardware is installed and the CCF and other files modified to display it.

The book will just be a generic one as the Ewok came out in late 2011, my page 52 will probably be exactly the same as yours.

Just wondered what was in there really as stealer didn't explain anything about anything when I bought her and just seen picture of extra function button. Oh well , back to the counting beads

In L359 “Extra Features” was used for “Timed Climate” for the auxiliary heating in
Countries where it was fitted.
You have to activate in the CCF either this, Cameras or 4x4i to make this option/key appear. MY15

Gen2.1 infotainment is not all created equal unfortunately. The hardware and software in the screen on the Ewok is not the same as the FL2. If anything the FL2 is closer to a development version where some features sort of work, most don't. Interestingly there is quite a difference in development between the 13my SW that I have and the 15my software StuC has.

For the Extra Features button, what are you trying to achieve/turn on? Making the buttons appear is straight forward with the CCF change, but having the buttons do anything is far, far harder.

The only hardware free function you can turn on in a pre 15my software is the 4x4 information screen, only the compass works, and even then it's buggy and stops after a while.

its crazy to think that Gen 2.1 came out with the Ewok in 2011 but that 2013MY FL2 didn't have the same functions etc.....

someone in JLR development is obviously a bit back to front

MY13 L359 and Pre MY14 l538 are exactly the same.
The SW and electrical are identical, well apart from minor cosmetic differences.
Changes started to appear on L538 from post MY14 with multi-CAN architecture whereas L359 had already had it CCF breakpoint at MY13 thus remained dual-CAN through to production ceasing MY15.
Gen 2.1 was first introduced in X351, XJ Jaguar from 2009. MY15

Thanks Vanny Was just curious to see if there anything there of use to me really. The 4x4 sounds ok but if it just stops working not much point.
Perhaps I'll be able to update something in the future but as of now it just seems like a closely guarded secret  If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

It’s no secret, it’s as simple as purchasing a good diagnostic tool and activation of feature.
But educating yourself before blindly playing around with the Car Configuration Fields would be a smart move.

Don't intend going anywhere near it thanks as I said earlier why stick all this stuff on a vehicle and not switch it on? You read the book but cannot find half the stuff so ask a question to be enlightened.
Sometime something may come along of interest and now I know I need a diagnostic tool and some know how but until then I'll just go with what I got. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.
