Yes, my 59 plate GS has the auto light function, so I would be really surprised if the later ones don’t. Is it perhaps not working properly? Is the sensor on the windscreen clear? 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Might have come with a package, maybe winter package? Do those GS with auto lights also have heated screen maybe? Regards

My car doesn't have auto wipers or auto lights, but it does have auto cleaning!

Not so sure the lady in question would appreciate being called an “automatic cleaner”.......... Regards

Interesting! Given that (I think) the facelift moved the switch for this onto the indicator stalk I would have expected it to be there alone with all the other lighting controls? This is our current stalk (note the lack of auto option and only rear fog control): https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/233459790896?chn=...gEQAvD_BwE And the one I'm looking at, which has the auto option as referenced in the user manual: https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/1213789043?iid=28...IEQAvD_BwE Makes me wonder if auto lights and front fogs came as a bundle perhaps? Like a "lighting pack" or something given the layout of the indicator stalk? The windscreen obviously has the rain sensor in it for the auto wipers, and this contains the light sensor too so this suggests the hard part is there - I'm just wondering what else is needed to give us this feature? Maybe add in front fogs whilst we're at it? EDIT: Part codes for without and with auto lights on the stalk: Without Auto: LR024624 With Auto: LR024626 Note that it looks like an incremental increase on the stalk part code for the auto option but without front fog control too. Makes me wonder if I simply order the replacement stalk and get some coding done, we'll be in business? |

I'd have to think you are right......likely will have to add them to your CCF with JLR SDD. Certainly, if it's a priority, I'd swap the stalk, see if it works and if not look to get it coded in. Might be worth a call to your JLR dealer to get an idea as to the viability, the cost and if they will actually do it. Now, you can also research Mongoose+SDD and start that learning curve yourself but they are inherent risks with programming your FL2, certainly do a thorough research if the subject interests you...... |

It might be cheaper and easier just to get the CCF switched to ‘Scandinavian mode’ and forget the need for auto lights! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

My 2009 gs has the auto light function, completely useless... just comes on when I start the car whatever the ambient light conditions.

If you have halogen globes they will last longer if not turning on & off unnecessarily. They need time to get up to temperature for the filament to work as designed. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
