United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver

A couple of weeks into ownership, and an update.

Car has been great. It had a thousand miles less than I stated previously, but have added that and a bit more in the last 2 weeks. The car is on the button every morning, has used no fluids, no leaks underneath and has responded well to a good wash inside and out. Too busy for a full job on it but have fed the leather which despite being in good nick now looks a lot better and smells nice Smile. I also fixed the rear wiper at zero cost, just a bit seized at the joints on the arm preventing it from laying on the screen properly.

We did a couple of long runs in the uk in the first few days and then hit Eurotunnel and went to Bruges for a couple of days last week. Once again the car performed faultlessly, was really comfortable and managed to lugg quite a bit of “Christmas stock” home under the load cover. It is nice to be able to sit up and see over hedges again compared to my other cars.

I have a run from Pompey to Manchester and back on Thursday, really wanted to get the cambelt and water pump done first but will try to get that done next week. I have a well reviewed LR indy about 3 miles from home who will be tasked with keeping her alive and healthy going forward.

So, in short, the first 2 weeks or so have been a good experience and I now have an avatar picture of her Smile

Good luck all.

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Lago Grey
Hello

Hello all, I Just bought my first Freelander 2 SD4 a week or so ago. Looks like a really knowledgeable forum and I’m sure I’ll be posting some questions very soon.

This car has so far been one of the best that I have driven and has handled the recent local flooding with ease. I’m looking forward to many years of driving in it.

United Kingdom

Hi everyone, I’ve been an owner of a 2013 freelander 2 Auto for a few years now and have only had 1 big(ish) issue since having it (boost pipe splitting) but recently I have an intermittent problem which is getting more frequent with loss of acceleration normally from stationary or at low speeds (30-35mph) and no warning lights nor fault codes related to performance coming up when plugged in. My local Land Rover specialist has carried out my yearly service including changing the Fuel Filter which he said can sometimes mimic the same symptoms but hasn’t solved the problem. After speaking to another couple of LR mechanics he has suggested changing the throttle body on it as that’s the only other thing they can think of that’s causing it but I wondered if anyone else had experienced similar issues and if so, was it down to the throttle body? TIA

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Orkney Grey

Hello
New to the site as just bought FL2 MY2014 SD XS Orkney grey.
Sold our 2015 Golf GTI also have Defender 2013 Orkney grey. Bought FL2 as we want to move to one vehicle soon which will do both jobs, local tough work in Lakes and long distance cruising to relatives.
First impression good
Early observations
Halogen headlamps poor , will upgrade HB3’s solve the problem? Or can you convert to HID?
How many HB3 bulbs have I got, 2 or 4?
Steering light- and very self entering ? ( remember I am used to a Defender)
Steering also feels lumpy round the centre
Ride very compliant
Visibility superb

Haldex pump replaced as part of deal . Should they have replaced full Haldex system?

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Sumatra Black

Hello to all,
I thought it was about time to say hi as I have been getting useful information from the site for couple of years since purchasing my 61 plate GS. Love it. It starts, stops, doesn't leak, it's warm and you can hear the radio - just like my series 3 really. It also seemed only courteous to join up seeing as I might be needing austen_fl2 to breathe his magic dust on my rear diff soon! Right, I will press the button and see if this works.

Evoque owner near Barcelona - Hola

Hi
I'm a Brit who's lived in or near Barcelona since 1989.
I'm an Evoque owner. Got the 2018 SE 4x4 diesel 150hp version
Got it on a lease from LEASEPLAN in Spain for 495€ a month all included. 5 years, 15000kms a year
So, what's the problem?

I've realised that I like going off-road and down forest trails or "Green laning" as you call it in the UK.
Around Barcelona and Catalonia, the potential is absolutely amazing.

A Range Rover badge just doesn't cut it as much as a Land Rover one, right?

In a year or so I'm going to be looking for a 4x4. I don't think I need a full off-road like a Montero /Shogun or LandCruiser, so a good 4x4 with terrain response and a Land Rover badge would fit the bill. A Jeep Renegade Trailhawk might be an option, but I think it's overpriced as is the Defender in Spain .... VERY overpriced. The Disco 2 or 3 might be in budget, but I don't think I could stand the unreliability and running costs. To be honest, bad choices over the last 15 years of car and bike whims have left me with no savings!!

Due to budget and the fact that I like the shape of the Freelander 2 more than the Disco Sport, it's top of my list right now.
I'll ask the usual questions in the right threads!

Anyway, that's me.
Hope to swap stories.
All the best
Simon

I was in Bunbury a few months ago & returned via Australia's longest shortcut. I asked my mechanic to go over the car with a fine tooth comb & there were no problems with it.
