United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey
Amazing mpg 45mpg on tank to tank top up

A trip from Southampton to Coventry and back, total of 259 miles. Computer said 48.1mpg. Actual measured miles against refuel to top up. 45mpg
I did take it easy just to see what I could get out of the old girl. Avg of 45.4mph over the 259 miles.
Was keeping it to 65mph on the A34 and M40.
Very happy with that.

36.7 is the most i can get from a manual, only by resetting the comp does it get higher. but after about six weeks it gradually slips back .

My trip is showing 35.5 after about 5 weeks of driving a little bit in the town & the rest going back & forth to Cambridge hospital.

I am no racer & drive fairly steady, mostly keep around 60 mph on a journey. My Freelander is a 2007 year & I guess they have improved the mpg on the newer cars. I am happy with that given the weight & comfort of the car.

I think my old Mitsi Shogun (3.2 ltr) was probably 28 to 30 mpg so an improvement for me.

31! I was chuffed the other day with 26 (also 3.2ltr) still that's about 55 diesel equivalent. Common sense isn't very common.

Ok you two what's the secret? Is that fill up to fill up or dash readings? I'm not a speed freak but can't get near your mileage.
Sorry Suckfish for nicking your post. Common sense isn't very common.

As for you, you got those teeny tiny little gallons haven’t you? Wink

Although seriously......around town/country shorts journeys (5-10 miles) we get more like 16-18 mpg Regards

To make you feel a bit better......I have given up doing proper calculations nowadays, so just for you to feel better you can deduct 3-4 mpg from my total to compensate for “LRSS*”......... Thumbs Up

Presumably those figures are in a Td4 manual, not an Sd4? Shocked Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
