Generally, as it has its own battery, a good practice will be to replace it once at 4-5 years, during service...

Hi, I know this is an old thread but I have a problem with the sounder going off. I have removed the unit and opened it like you did. The date on it is the same as yours although the car is 08. The battery seems to be holding charge at 6.5v

In my case replacing the battery didn't help. The new battery discharges over a few days so it looks like there's a problem in the trickle charging circuit to it.

Buy a Ford one from eBay they are exactly the same but cheaper |

No point wasting £30 on a used ford or LR sounder that may be just as bad as the original. I will leave it out, who needs a back up alarm on a 2008 Freelander. |

Does anyone have a part number or where to buy a new on or new battery u cannot find these anywhere online and my car is doing the same thing |

Recently had the alarm sounding randomly with no lights flashing or horn sounding, locking and unlocking didn’t stop the alarm and you could drive off with the alarm still sounding. Only way to stop the alarm was disconnecting the back up alarm at the rear of the engine bay.
