The 90 might make a nice replacement for the FL2......yes I know the differences, doors, seats, size etc......but at least it’s a bit more “Land Rovery” than the present crop of pressed steel.

There was a comment some time ago from "someone in the know" that the Freelander name was going to be used again so perhaps there will be a Freelander Defender Sport version (all electric of course) 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

1. The 90" actually has a 90" wheelbase Shocked It goes to pot a bit after that...

2. It'll be 1,999mm wide. So, no one will be green laning those at any age then Sad

Looking at an old brochure the original 90 had a 93 inch wheelbase, the 110 was spot on and the 130 was 127. So it’s tradition Laughing

I suppose it will just be a model name as that’s what they are known as. A bit like these car manufacturers who’s engine designations don’t relate to engine at all. Mercedes Benz springs to mind 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Audi are now calling their engine size names 34/45/50/ etc etc.

apparently they are preparing the buyers for electric versions so the number represent power bandings that will cover all engine types

im actually liking the look of the new defender and the trim levels etc. The only thing im not liking is the prices, they are ridiculous when compared to the competition.

Also will they be as hard wearing as the old Defender ?.... somehow I doubt it

No pickup version? I note that there are a lot of L200/Navara/Hiluxe pickups around now with chrome bars etc on the back which are obviously lifestyle vehicles.

Somewhere a while back , I think I read that VW were developing a smaller leisure pickup that was squarely aimed at retail rather than business customers . If they are that could be a smart move . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles . Best Car I ever owned !

2023 Toyota Hilux invincible X 2.8 Auto .

A few years ago now VW had the Caddy (Golf......see what they did there? Laughing ) pick up in South America built/available as a “consumer” focused leisure vehicle, then again in South America VW have had some weird and wonderful versions of all sorts.

We had one imported for teardown and competitor work, bloody awful......put it in the trough and it leaked like a sieve, we found casting sand in the engine oil and body in white build quality had far too many spot welds not fused Shocked Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

My salesman alone has 20 orders, I think I’m 19th on his list, usually I’m in the top 5. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

If it's like any other new product launch you always start with the most expensive and high spec version which is bought by the early adopters then you move down the poverty list to mop up the rest of us plebs. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

Ford did a pickup based on the Cortina called the P100 and apparently the top spec version even had pop up seats in the back.

LR have this habit of doing first editions, I’ve never seen the purpose as my poverty spec cars have always been delivered at the same time.

I’m expecting delivery of mine around March, I just can’t make up my mind whether it should be a 90 or 110. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

The 90 without the cladding seen for the first time, it’s all been the 110
