Norway 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey
Price of UK FL2 Insurance

In the Top Gear Review link that cyberil posted http://www.topgear.com/uk/land-rover/freelander-2 , Top Gear refers to pricey insurance as the reason the FL2 only gets 4/20 for running costs. I wondered how much do you guys in the UK pay for your FL2 insurance Question

My Norwegian FL2 insurance is the cheapest car insurance I have had for at least 15 years. The first years insurance was included as part of the purchase package offered by Volvia insurance through the LR dealer and I did expect a costly second year. However the Volvia quote for the second year was considerably cheaper than from my normal car insurance company, which has always been the cheapest around. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Just renewing, best so far is £365, 10k miles, wife named but only 2 years no claims bonus which makes the difference. Would be closer to £250 otherwise. Phil

In belgium you pay €1800 for the full omnium with off-road insurance, around €1500 without.
Those also include 2 years of 110% coverage (if the car is a write-off you get it replaced by a new one with the same spec costing max 110% of the value you gave the insuror to cover).

Even £450 (approx. €550) sounds very cheap to me.

£308.00 with Land Rover insurance DS&P including off road for 10k miles per year.

However I do not think off road covers acting as a course car on forest car rallies so in May when it is due for renewal I will be obtaining a quote from Richard Egger Insurance www.richardeggerinsurance.co.uk who specialise in all types of insurance including something called "Family Fleet Scheme" which if qualify for if you have a minimum of the vehicles and two drivers.

Having spoken to them at The Autosport Show last month they appear to be quite competitive.

This could also be usefully for NPinks and Co when organising their "Off road" days as after many years of being involved with motor sport even you gentle convoys through Kielder would probably be viewed as competition for insurance purposes and my advice would be for everyone to check with their insurance company.

I do 25000kms (15000miles) per year but that does not account for that much of a price difference. We pay at least 2 to 3 times as much here in Belgium. Very strange...

I am 28, 9 years NCB, going to pick up my HSE 2009 model this Friday (can not wait Very Happy ). Am paying £688, this includes my Belgium Fiancée and for us both to drive it FullyCom throughout Europe (most of my time will be spent in Belgium).
She has a 2006 Golf TD that is insured and registered in Belgium, it costs her $650 Euros for 6 months.

I might be wrong, but it looks like there are not many companies that insure cars in Belgium so there is no competition, just the banks as far as I can tell offer car insurance. HSE, Auto, Colour - Yes

Thanks for the tip Npinks. I struggled to get the right insurance as most only offer 30 / 60 days cover.
The one I found is called "extended foreign use scheme with AXA insurance".

Their words:

>We would issue a European rated policy that will give your selected
>policy cover across the 27 countries of the EU (including UK) plus three
>that are not, without limit of time, main country of use outside UK
>being Belgium.
>
>You will be issued with policy Documentation which confirms annual
>European use (including Green Card). Our quote includes a Legal
>Expenses
>Policy which works in the EU at a fee of £25.00 and an administration
>fee of £20.00. HSE, Auto, Colour - Yes

When I changed from FL1 to FL2 my insurance costs (with same company) remained exactly the same.

Churchill £275, 9 years no claims (protected) and hubby on (diabetic) with 12000 miles , just renewed with churchill after red 1 was written off thought the premium would go through the roof but no change so really happy about that.
