Ok, been putting this off and not sleeping because of the airbag removal, either that or because Vanny is in front of me on this retrofit🤔😂
So first thing is airbag removal tool manufacture so go to your wife’s, girlfriends, boyfriends, mother in laws wardrobe (not yours as that would be inconvenient) and grab a clothes hanger like this and make it looks like that!





You now have a tool that you can go in through the side of the rear cowl and release the airbag module from the steering wheel as pictured below.



So I’m now ready to do battle with the airbag in the morning after a few calming drinks tonight.  MY15

If it helps your nerves, I gave mine a lot of abuse, and swearing, and it did no obvious damage.

When you find the metal bar clips you need to push the air bag into the car while pulling at the clip, then pull the air bag forward. It only came forward 1mm or so on the first side, so it was not obvious it had detached.

My SDD laptop is rebuilt so hopefully I can try some CCF mods this weekend. No pressure . . .

Yes, it’s bloody frustrating, it’s like that thing you did as a kid when you taped your head while doing a rotational movement on your chest whilst working blind
With any luck I’ll have some blue little lighty bits behind my steering wheel like you by the end of the day or stabbed myself with the airbag removal tool.

So I’ve now caught up with Vanny and the airbag didn’t disappoint at one stage me storming off and making a coffee to regain my composure.......
In the end I now have 2 little lighty things popping up behind the steering wheel at the moment interestingly the same bright green as the rest of the dash lighting.
Next step is some CCF editing, seems like there’s more than a couple of fields to change🤔

Time for a quick update, paddles work electrically and the BCM is putting the shift up/down message on to the CAN bus but the transmission control module isn't actioning the command😥

My TCM software is pretty out of date, so I'm hoping an update might help. May also be that the CCF changes made aren't enough. I shall keep chipping away at the problem!

Well to add insult to injury I ended up with a BCM “DTC” of left switch pack fault which Is no longer being reported after I changed one CCF flag in an effort to see which flag would extinguise it, even though it’s reported as being untested. Will leave it a couple days and see if it remains extinguished and make the remaining CCF changes.
No operational paddles as yet either.
Vanny and I both realise what will have to happen but it’s good to get the easy/obvious ones out the way first. MY15

DTC is not being reported anymore so know exactly which Ccf flag has achieved that.

I’ve fitted paddles to my wife’s MY14 and need to activate them now.

It's going to need something more than a CCF change unfortunately. It seems the paddle shift change isn't enabled within the TCM/gearbox ECU. Options are to hack the existing software or see if Evoque software will work, there are a list of identified risks with both options but ultimately I drive 600miles a week and have neither the time nor the bottle to mess with the transmission. Stuart is a bit busy with the hundreds of other mods he's in the middle of 🤣
It's not a project that has been forgotten about though, I still really need it. Every other car I drive has paddle shift, it's weird to not have iit.

As Vanny said little preoccupied with 2 major projects and a business which keeps robbing me of precious spare time.
Powered tailgate is priority atm as I’m keen to join the scratch, dented and paint missing on tailgate edge club
I have said software files but have not had time to go through all checks.
Either Vanny or I will update as soon as we’ve enabled the paddles. MY15
