Looks like plenty of us have still not got to the bottom of this so I decided to research all the other vehicles that use the same engine and it does seem like the vibrations at the same rpm are also present especially in the jaguar so the fact that we are all looking in the transmission side of things maybe missing the fact that is engine related .. quite a bit of info around EGR system and also swirl flaps problems so I’m going to take both of these off have a close look at them clean and check and make sure they operating properly and see what results and will share whr I’ve done ...

You may be on to something here. My engine feels generally rougher than it used to. One garage I spoke to diagnosed it over the phone as 'definitely engine' and he has a good reputation. Anyway, it's going in to Roean in Telford on Thursday for a day. They couldn't find anything wrong with the transmission in a one-hour diagnosis last week.

Good shout Tim...Mine feels like its there all the time (I'll monitor it properly this week) but it is definitely only there when accelerating....

Here's an update from Jase:

Hi everyone, just an update on how the drive shaft went, I went to fit the new drive shaft a couple of weeks ago but when fitting the new shaft it was an inch to long so had to put the old one back on, I've fitted the new correct drive shaft today and tested it, I'm happy to say that the vibration has now gone, I might replace the NS drive shaft as well as I can feel a slight vibration but you can hardly notice it, it now drives lovely, I'm sure it was the inner joint that was the issue, I hope this helps, thank you for all you input on this issue,
Jason

I've ordered an n/s shaft for mine so willl update once I've fitted it Thumbs Up

Just to post my conclusion....

Had a new NSF driveshaft fitted and wobble/vibration has gone Very Happy

The old one had alot of vertical movement where the shaft enters the gearbox. This is significantly less with the new shaft but there is some play there.

Hi People,

Has anybody else replaced their driveshaft and experienced the vibe going away? Can we conclude its all caused by the drive shaft?

Will also have a look at mine, the vibration drives me mad.

I’ve just bought an electronic stethoscope kit with 6 clamps to put in various places of possible vibes and hopefully finally find the 100% cause of this . Will post as soon as I’ve had time to have a go with it ..

Driveshafts do seem ok however where the driveshaft sits into the gearbox on the pass side there is quite a lot of movement up and down and I am thinking this is where the vibration is coming from .. hopefully this device will pick it up will let you know ...

Just to update changed front nearside driveshaft and has made no difference to my vibration so it’s something else and I’m now accepting it’s never to be found so just going to forget it and drive a bit different maybe in sport mode all the time . If anyone does find a solution please share thanks .

My rear drive shafts clicked from new and never sorted by dealers under warranty, seems to have finally stopped or maybe I just do not let it bother me anymore. Sometimes you just have to let things develop to find the culprit. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
