Parking Sensors

Hi All

New to the Freelander 2 after haveing 3 FL1's

I have a quick question
My 09 plate SE has parking sensors fitted front and rear, when i select reverse the ((P)) swicth flashes and i can hear the relay click but i have no bleeping or any warning sounds, same on the front (nearly caught a wall)
Do i need to press any buttons or anything?
Cheers

no, only when you engage reverse are the sensors activated, and then both front and rear are active. You can switch them off using the button on the dash

sometimes if the light on the switch stays flashing then that indicates a possible problem with 1 or more of the sensors and will need diagnosing, either by changing out the sensors and testing each one or by plugging in the diagnostics tool

Pretty sure you can turn them on with the dash switch too.

Your light should be solid. If flashing then there is a fault. A code reader can tell you what 2007 Black Freelander 2 HSE - hers

When we bought our 60 reg it had had a tow bar fitted and removed. The reversing beepers didn't work and the dealer found they had been configured off. I don't know if a non-dealer has the capability to reconfigure. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

This extract from the 09MY technical manual may be of assistance to you - I am working on getting a pdf version of the parking aid section into my Gallery bear with me on that one as I am having to cut and paste about a dozen pages piece by piece!

Quote:
Parking Aid Module
The parking aid module is located on the Left Hand (LH) side of the luggage compartment , behind the 'C' pillar trim panel .
The parking aid module has three connectors which provide for power, ground and CAN bus connections, front parking aid sensors and rear parking aid sensors.
The medium speed CAN bus connections provide for the receipt of the following information from other systems:
Anti -lock Brake System (ABS) module - Road speed signal
Transmission Control Module (TCM) - Reverse gear engaged signal
Trailer module - Trailer attached to vehicle
Instrument cluster - Ambient temperature signal.
The module also out puts messages on the medium speed CAN bus which are received by he Integrated Control Module
(ICM). The ICM processes these messages and convert s them into Media Orientated System Transport (MOST) signals which are passed to the audio system power amplifier. These signal s are then used by the power amplifier to emit the applicable warning tones from the front or rear audio speakers when an object is detected by the front or rear parking aid sensors. A warning tone can also be emitt ed to alert the driver to a fault in the parking aid system.
The parking aid module performs self check routines and when the system is active checks the sensor wiring for short or open circuit s. If a fault is detected a code is stored in a memory in the module and if necessary either the front and/or rear sensors can be disabled. The driver is made aware of any fault condition by the parking aid switch Light Emi tting Diode (LED) flashing and a continuous warning tone being emitt ed for 3 seconds, in place of the normal short tones when the system is functioning normally. Fault codes can be read us ng the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) via the diagnostic socket.

EDIT: I have now uploaded the pdf file re parking aid to my gallery page Thumbs Up No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

Hi all, fitted a Land Rover 13pin tow electrics today and now I don’t have reverse parking sensors. I had to move a black box ( turns out this is the parking sensor box)out of the way a bit so I could get to a earthing point for the tow electrics. I un did the bolt and put Earth cable from tow electrics to the bolt, there is another wire attached to the bolt but not sure at the moment if this Earth cable goes to the parking sensor box. But anyway I forgot to disconnect the battery when I un did this bolt and now I get a 3 sec long tone when I start up the same tone you would get when you select reverse. Would disconnecting the Earth while battery connected mess up the parking sensor box. Would this need resetting Marto. GS Sd4 2012

Hi , when fitting the tow electrics I unplugged a a few things to give me
Better access to install part of the tow kit, and in doing so lost the settings
For the reverse sensors. So took it to the local Indy garage and had tow
Electrics and reverse sensors all programmed back in. GS Sd4 2012

This was solved for me by buying a Trailer module ECU update from Gap Diagnostics, my trailer software was out of date.

Hi All -
Awesome forum which I have found really useful to date but as I'm fairly new to FL2's (normally working on my D2) I was hoping for some assistance with fitting a reclaimed parking control module. The Haynes states that if a new module is fitted the it will have to be configured with a LR diagnostic tool. I've got a iCarsoft that works on the FL2 but haven't a clue how to configure the unit once I've fitted it. Is it just a matter of clearing error codes etc? or is there some magic section that I should be looking at. Would be really grateful for any help before I mess things up.
