Caravan satellite systems

I'm thinking about getting a portable satellite system for the tintent.

I dont want anything roof mounted, just a setup that packs away and goes into one the lockers. I'd prefer one that has the facility to store recordings(if such as thing exists).

The van has the correct connector in the battery box to hook a system up to.

I'm looking for pointers and recommendations please.

Thanks Updated- Waiting for a Scotland v England 6 Nations home win. 24th Feb 2018

Depends where you're going, uk and northern France, one of the Aldi/Lidl systems are quite good though they are free to air no EPG though you can put the channels you want in favourites. Going further south or Spain you will need a larger dish 90cm plus especially southern Spain, you can use the same lnb in the larger ďish, if you want Sky .then takè your own box, if you need to go to the larger dish then you will need some form of tripod to mount it on, the tripodsare avilable on flea bay for around £20 my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Got a maxview 60cm dish and tripod. Use an old sky box with viewing card from home. Works well but less non hd channels now mean we'll be looking for a replacement box? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I have a tripod mounted 80cm dish with Easyfind hd receiver, takes two minutes to set up and locate a satellite signal. I was going to get a smaller one but was told that the smaller dishes can be marginal if weathers dickie or away from Uk. Check out eBay as lots of complete set ups really cheap

Whether they still do or have changed but Maxview used generic boxes and dishes at a somewhat large markup over the Aldi kit for the same box but with Maxview transfers instead of Tevion Sad my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

The Aldi and Lidl one seem to be off sale. I'll have a look at the Maxview, thanks. Updated- Waiting for a Scotland v England 6 Nations home win. 24th Feb 2018

i used to use a Maxview Satellite dish, linked up to a sky multiroom box i brought from home

That way i could have all my sky channels whilst away, the box was placed under a seat, with a Sky magic eye receiver on show near the TV, which was on the work top, so only a HDMI lead going to it, a lot cleaner install

I also used quick plugs, which converted the screw on sky connectors to the push fit ones (like a normal TV aerial)

Setup was done using a scanner with a inbuilt screen, so i could stand at the dish and watch the levels move instead of listening to the beep box and looking at the bars on the TV screen

Problem was the maxview dishes are quite big, so if i was to buy a new one i would go for the automatic portable dish VUQUBE type Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
