Tried cleaning your MAF? Solved my issues previously. There is a great Liquid Moly MAF cleaner. Don’t you use any other cleaner other than a MAF one. |

The JLR workshop manual has a whole section on freeing up the turbo vane actuating rod and lubricating it. Easing oil or other lubricants wont last long once the turbo heats up. JLR recommend using a high temperature lubricant (LR 029042), which is very expensive. Im going to use Ceratec grease (good for 1000C). Jules |

So I still have this problem with my Freelander. When hot it seems like it has no boost. Its fine on a cold day but on a hot day its really noticeable as it hangs onto gears. My only fault code is an o2 sensor fault. And even when unplugged the car still does it. Ive tried blanking the EGR removed the Cat freeing up the turbo actuator all to no avail. Getting tired of this now. Anyone else have any ideas? |

Well, i finally got rond to doing just a couple of things. Only changed the fuel filter and the cam sensor. Couldn't change the crankshaft sensor because they sent me the wrong one.

So I've been driving the Freelander hooked up to a Diagnostic machine for a few days now and one thing is evident, I'm loosing boost. When cold the car will be boosting around 1.2-1.4 bar (read from MAP sensor) and have all the power it should, after driving for a while it's like a switch has been flicked, usually when standing at a traffic light, pull of there and it only boosts somewhere between 0.6-0.8 bar. Found that the intercooler is leaking but can't think that it causes it to loose that much boost? Can it be? Cant find leaks in any pipes? Or could it be the turbo causing this erratic boost problems. Air intake temps at the MAP sensor is usually between 65-75 degrees celsuis.
