Tried cleaning your MAF? Solved my issues previously. There is a great Liquid Moly MAF cleaner. Don’t you use any other cleaner other than a MAF one.

I too have this problem of loss of boost when hot, has any one found a sure fix ?

Take off the under side cover, crawl under and locate the Turbo Vane Lever, spray with easing oil and then work backwards and forwards. Spray with a light lubricant and work backwards and forwards. Re-fit cover and road test.

Now tell us the result. A simple fix Very Happy or now only a bad back and multi lacerations. Rolling with laughter

The JLR workshop manual has a whole section on freeing up the turbo vane actuating rod and lubricating it.
Easing oil or other lubricants wont last long once the turbo heats up. JLR recommend using a high temperature lubricant (LR 029042), which is very expensive. Im going to use Ceratec grease (good for 1000C). Jules

Did you ever solve this problem, im also in South africa and experience exactly the same symptoms.

So I still have this problem with my Freelander. When hot it seems like it has no boost. Its fine on a cold day but on a hot day its really noticeable as it hangs onto gears. My only fault code is an o2 sensor fault. And even when unplugged the car still does it. Ive tried blanking the EGR removed the Cat freeing up the turbo actuator all to no avail.

Getting tired of this now. Anyone else have any ideas?

Well, i finally got rond to doing just a couple of things. Only changed the fuel filter and the cam sensor. Couldn't change the crankshaft sensor because they sent me the wrong one.
So far and a couple of hundred miles later the problem seems to have dissapeared but the weather has been much cooler lately. I don;t know if the problem has been cured permenantly yet, needs a few months and a lot more miles to see. Hopefully it's done the trick but when i get time i still going to change the crank sensor.
Will post on here with any further developements.

So I've been driving the Freelander hooked up to a Diagnostic machine for a few days now and one thing is evident, I'm loosing boost. When cold the car will be boosting around 1.2-1.4 bar (read from MAP sensor) and have all the power it should, after driving for a while it's like a switch has been flicked, usually when standing at a traffic light, pull of there and it only boosts somewhere between 0.6-0.8 bar. Found that the intercooler is leaking but can't think that it causes it to loose that much boost? Can it be? Cant find leaks in any pipes? Or could it be the turbo causing this erratic boost problems. Air intake temps at the MAP sensor is usually between 65-75 degrees celsuis.

Anyone have ideas?
