Thumbs Up Hi all,

Just got my first FL2, loving it so far (Orkney Grey 2014 XS), planning on a few mods and retrofits and after a month or two of stalking the forums I thought I’d join up Rolling Eyes

Coming in from a Def90, so already on a winner comfort wise Mr. Green

Hey all
Is there many people downsizing their wheels on these cars, or is there anyone here that has made a downsize and not regretted it? The state of the roads and a desire to have a go off road is provoking this change.

This kinda answers your query...

August 2016, Bought from Asda, fitted by Halfords; 4 x Conti CrossContact LX-2 235/65R17 108HXL £414.56. These are on deliberately downsized 17" wheels from 19" which were standard on my Sd4 auto HSE. When I made the change and fitted the new tyres, the ride was transformed from hard and uncomfortable to firm, positive, and reassuring.

Total mileage in 22 months; 32,302. Assuming original tread depth of 8mm, the remaining treads are Front 5mm, Rear 6mm. (about to be swapped).

At that rate of wear and expecting to renew when at about 3mm, I reckon they should take me through till winter 2019. or about 50K.

About 40% of that mileage is 3 annual trips across europe on motorways, and twisty-turnys through the Alps and Pyrenees.

I would definitely recommend Contis.

Thanks for having me.

I've just bought a Freelander 2 and it's better than I was expecting. However the sat nav has lost it's voice. Can anyone out there point me in the right direction to get it back?

Thanks for your help

Hi,

My names Mark, i expect like numerous others i have joined here with issues.....
Have had my FL2 for about 8 months and bought it due to medical issues, needed a car that was easy to get in and out of.
Totally love the drive and the SE has the few extras that make her that bit special.
Will see some of you over in the tech section soon as she need some TLC and there will be a fight before i let her go......

Hippo; This may be the answer. The voice volume can only be altered when she is actually speaking, and it's adjusted with the RADIO volume button. Possibly the radio volume is turned right down and so the voice is silent. I can only suggest that you try to anticipate when a likely voice message is announced and whack up the volume on the radio at the same time. Just a thought, not an authoritive solution.

Re sat nav volume. There is also the option to turn the voice off in the sat nav menu. Might be worth checking that`s not what has been done. I very seldom have the voice commands activated on mine. Thumbs Up

Welcome, for future reference try requests elsewhere rather than "Say Hello"

Unless you have a health reason I would avoid them but thats my personal taste on a) They look crass and b) its something to belly out on off road.

The search facility will turn up lots of chatter on side steps but no doubt a lover of steps will come along soon. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Cheers Yorky Bob - I’m a forum newby! Like you say each to their own, personally I like the look of the side steps - health reason? My wife’s a short arse does that count?? Laughing plus I don’t anticipate doing any serious off roading so the inhibited ground clearance shouldn’t be an issue.

Hi All,

Bought a 2013 FL2 a couple of weeks ago to replace our Suzuki SZ5 tow car.

Had a few issues, rear wheel bearing noise, so I changed both sides, had to trawl the internet to find out how to release and re-set the electric parking brake, one drive shaft was sized in the hub and the other side was very tight, anyway all done now and nice and quiet.

Roof rails fitted, not genuine LR so a bit of adjustments and filing required but now spot on. Tow bar and electrics fitted, luckily I didn't have to get the software switched on for the electric pack to work at the main dealers, however we have one lighting board with LED lights which won't work, apparently the output signal from the later FL2's is PWM so had to go back to bulbs on that trailer.

Stainless steel round side bars now fitted (bling only) and the last job was to spray the underside with ACF 50 (Cornish salt air and high humidity) Now all done.
