Hi I have 2013 SD4, just done trip reset to see what the car is getting , only had ownership for 2 weeks, steady driving round town and country lanes using Crusoe control, I am only achieving around 22mpg which just seems extremely low, I have checked the tyres there at the correct psi, am just wondering is there something am missing .

cruise control will not give you best mpg, especially using it in your scenarios.

I don't do much town driving but my 2014 SD4 auto does well on long motorway runs as shown below but soon drops down if I do short runs around twist windy roads, currently averaging around 36mpg for local travel.

You could fit a bluespark chip and this should see a marked improvement on MPG - they cost about £80. They take 10mins to fit and can be removed and bypassed very quickly.
My college has one on this auto SD4 and he gets low 40MPG.
I have a 2007 manual and I get +35 ish round town - and towing my 1400KG caravan and bikes on the roof get 24mpg.

Also its worth resetting the MPG once you are 5 mins into your drive - these cars seem to use a shed load of fuel in the initial 2 miles, so if you are only doing shortish journeys then this may be giving the high reading.
But to be frank - the very best way to measure MPG it to fill it up to the brim - reset the mileage counter, then do a journey, refill to the brim and look at how much you have used and how far travelled (convert Litres to gallons and divide by mileage)
I use this method - infact I use the same pump to ensure I get a repetitive reading.

I live in a small town and so motorway, rural roads, and short around town driving make up my mileage.
My long term mpg readout says 33mpg, and I now from doing tank to tank checks that is about 31mpg actual.
I use air conditioning and other power sapping devices provided.
And, as a matter of interest, I too use cruise control as much as possible to avoid getting caught speeding, even in town.


Starting, and short journeys, are a mpg killer in the FL2. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

sounds about right to me

round town driving in 20/30/40 zones and the odd jaunt on motorway type roads saw average 23mpg on fill up to fill up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Mine does about 28 around town and about 36 on a cross country run. It could be better if the 45mph mobile chicanes got out of the way and allowed my car to get into 6th gear. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

Another vote for the Bluespark - combined with an EGR blanking plate my SD4 gives me 35mpg ave rage Cheers,

Will it pass it mot test with this?
Does it effect the emissions?
