cruise control will not give you best mpg, especially using it in your scenarios.

I don't do much town driving but my 2014 SD4 auto does well on long motorway runs as shown below but soon drops down if I do short runs around twist windy roads, currently averaging around 36mpg for local travel.

Thank you for your response, I would to get mpg like that, I just don't think I should be getting 22mpg for round town and country lanes , should be high 20s I would have hoped, I may have a problem some where |

You could fit a bluespark chip and this should see a marked improvement on MPG - they cost about £80. They take 10mins to fit and can be removed and bypassed very quickly.

Thanks for your reply, just quickly googled it, looks like it's just plug and play device , I will order one, also just realised I have winter tyres on the back could this make a difference as well to mpg |

I live in a small town and so motorway, rural roads, and short around town driving make up my mileage.

Yes they are plug and play - they sell on ebay for £79.99. They make a couple different models - the latest one you can get remapped - so if you change your car to another common rail diesel then you can use it. The ones on ebay are not reprogrammable. I have had mine for the past 3 months and it been great - it has 3 settings 1. max torque 2. medium 3. Max power For eco driving and towing the max torque seems to work best. |

Mine does about 28 around town and about 36 on a cross country run. It could be better if the 45mph mobile chicanes got out of the way and allowed my car to get into 6th gear. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE |
