Have you made any consideration to how much heat is pumped out by the rear floor level vents that are underneath all that complicated electronics? I guess in your climate you don't blow heat in to the car from the HVAC very often, but as they can get rather hot I think I would be tempted to put an insulating layer on the bottom of the bracket.

we tend to worry more about cooling than heating here in Australia🔥



Not sure if it clear from the pic but the vents come out from the floor quite a distance from the module carrier and because of the angle only the exit vent gets close to the carrier and is clear of the modules so very little radiant heat should be generated.
Probably more of a worry on a 40 degree day with a/c on
I’ve read that most modules have a fail safe for heat anyhow and the system lets you know
if a system is unavailable due to excessive heat, I’m guessing this applies to the TIM & IPMB.
Maybe you need to send me over your CHAV seat system and I can cool them that way🤔😂 MY15

This was just too good an opportunity to pass up, brand new l320 wing mirror with proximity camera and
Puddle light. L359/L320/L319 are the same mirror. Just need a drivers side now.



Interestingly the puddle light and camera are all one module and
From what I can see the only plug/cable to it is the HSD line which means the puddle light is controlled through the LIN from the IPMB. My current puddle light is conventional wire/plug so there must be a setting in the CCF for this.🤔 MY15

Bit of mirror fun/disassembly this weekend. Not had to do one before so now that I’ve done it on the bench with the new assembly it’s actually pretty easy and I won’t even have to remove the mirror from the door to change over to camera version. As the whole cowl splits into 2 I can either just swap out the bottom half of the mirror cowl or the whole part. Probably just change whole cowl. MY15

Activated the Surround Camera System in the CCF and set up as a “short cut soft key” in the home menu along with the “Extra Features” option.





Connecting the module into the CAN via OBD with home made harness.

After some more research I’ve now concluded that the rear Camera I have CPLA-19h422-AB LR052028 won’t work on the Bj32-14f026- IPMB, incompatible software and BJ32-19h422-AB LR025912 is the Camera(s) I need. The camera I have is for MY14 onwards l538, l319. Not a problem but this style of camera with the six pin rear has a more compact socket/harness. The same applies for the wing mirror camera’s which predate even the LR025912 Camera belonging to L320 MY10 and L319. Again no biggie as the newer camera will fit in quite nicely and my main objective with the wing mirrors is that they’re a straight swap with the current mirror, the actual camera working would have been a bonus.
So my main priority here is the rear camera, the easiest fitting solution of the rear camera and initially getting the surround camera system up and running with only rear camera working and then fitting the remaining parts, otherwise I will be without my fixed rear camera which I already have and use regularly.
So logical get a LR025912 but these seem to be really expensive £210 new and insane money for a used one of which I can currently only find one!
As I’m mad🤔 and already have a cpla-19h422-ab and harness set up for the 6 pin camera, I’ve decided to buy another IPMB specific to the LR052028 camera and see what happens, it’s also a cheaper course of action🤔. If no success will have to pencil this off as a learning experience and bite the bullet(s) and shell out on the LR025912 camera’s or wait until some used ones
come available, I’m not patient!
I can then start to permanently wire in everything which really in this case is a doddle compared to RSE. MY15

Time to start running some wiring starting with the main power for The IPMB from the RJB.
For the fixed camera, as with all other platforms rear fixed camera, the fixed camera IPMB in the Freelander 2 runs from a fuse in the engine bay F43 Camera/Automatic High Beam.



Surround Camera IPMB runs from extended ignition fuse location in the RJB FB10 (Red wire) and whilst I had the RJB apart I also put in the pigtail/line for the powered tailgate FB6 (brown/red) which a permanent live is required, funny how both positions exist🤔☺️.





So now have fused extended ignition power to the IPMB module I’m just waiting for a delivery of hardware at the end of this week and should have all the parts necessary to get on with this.

Rear Surround Camera mount done using the standard fixed camera plinth!





To my surprise, even though the fixed rear camera and the surround rear camera are physically quite different the surround camera fitted directly into the existing camera plinth without much modification, almost like it was meant to🤔! This is great news as I was expecting quite a big job on my hands.





Also started working on the wing mirrors and as I’m now not using the camera/approach light setup which came
with the mirrors and have been sourcing new approach light options. I have a few different designs on their way but this first one is a strong option.

Bit of a start on the wing mirrors and a test fit with the mirror put back together and all fits, just!
Had 2 more lights turn up this week, 1 was quickly discarded as an option whilst the third is what is in the mirror currently. Same cre LED but more suitable body for fitting. Have 1 more on the way so possibly may still change if better light spread but the one in atm is very good.
