strange that car maufacturers spend millions improving engines when all they had to do was fit a small magnet |

I once heard someone claim that they saw a demonstration with a cigarette lighter where the size of the flame increased when one such magnet was brought close. I suspect it might have been the effect of the magnetic field on the valve or some 'slight of hand' by the demonstrator.

I had endless correspondence from a firm selling magnets for the gas lines to my chicken shed heaters, they claimed to have extensive trail results proving the effectiveness of the product but I didn't believe a word of it. At work |

So Bader's big wing owed its success to magnets then. Whilst Gerry was labouring under the false impression the 109 had to be smoke free, old Dougie was ruling the skies with swarf free engines.
