A few posts up this thread I reported that my wife's Peugeot failed MOT in 2015 with two broken rear springs which I replaced. Last year after only about 5k miles and two years she failed again on one of the rear springs. Eurocarparts said that components are only guaranteed for a year so no luck there. I don't recall ever having spring problems until recent years so is this telling us something about modern steel quality?

I think it is more to do with steel quality as there have be many reports of failures in all sorts of steel components due to poor quality steel, which is frequently not up to specification, imported from guess where.

There were some problems with some Japanese steel, though the steel was of a specific type it failed to conform with it's certification, and was used many car bodies, let's hope the crash tests were done with the below spec steel my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I wonder if the Japanese imported their steel from China to then export it themselves |
