Lost one key - questions and what to do

Hi

Somehow managed to loose 1 of the 2 keys

I assume only option is to go to the official Land Rover dealer and have them program a new key and reprogram the existing one ? Assume it’s expensive?

Also, how do I avoid that whoever finds the lost key can steel the car? Low probability that he/she will locate the car but you never know

It’s a 2013

England 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Dynamic Manual Fuji White

Which type of key is it - 1 that slots in the dash (pre 2012) or keyless ignition (2012>)?
Both types can be bought online (ebay, etc) but make sure you get the correct 1 as some have different frquencies so wont work.
I had a replacement supplied by the garage when i bought mine and they sent the AA out to my home to program it (took 5 mins).
When they program a new key they need all keys and when programming them together it changes the codes so any lost keys wont work

A new 2012> key inc programming at a dealer is around £300
