Best car I had for rear screen aerodynamics was the old Saab 900 - huge sloping back window, but the aerodynamics were so good it didn’t need a rear wiper. Basically, if the car was moving, the rain just didn’t land on the back window. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Ian, yes I remember the Sierra, had one as a company car. It did have two slivers on plastic 'wing' either side of the huge rear screen.

Good read that, quite liked the wading depth guide. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

After seeing a slightly different description elsewhere, yes it does work but needs to be done with the ignition On but without starting the engine. It sounds a chime when the belt is unplugged for the ninth time, and the audible alert has remained disabled ever since. You don't have to do this every journey. ---------- Tony S |

Yes, agreed. Back in 1983 I had a Ford Sierra company car, they had only just come out and I found that overtaking big trucks on a motorway was a nightmare. It went back to the dealers and eventually Ford admitted that there was a design issue and that originally they wanted to put a rear spoiler on the car but the marketing guys had refused to allow it. The problem was eventually fixed by reducing the front tyre pressures and adding the plastic fairings around the rear windows. The fairings weren't noticed by most people but made a lot of difference. FL2s a similar bump on the corner and I have often wondered if that it there for a similar purpose. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto 5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE |
