United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Barolo Black

(Yesterday) picked up my HSE SD4 MY11. Really pleased with it, needs a few little bits sorting out and a service but more than happy so far.

It is a guy near Frankfurt, he has 4 steering wheels ready for the Freelander 2 with different designs, mine is the more "extreme" one.
It is possible to do exchange via mail but i am not sure how communicative he is in English.

and in e-bay Germany

please note that there are 2 types of steering wheels for the Freelander, pre 2012 and post 2012

I fitted a Laptop power supply.

a DC-DC convertor that takes the 12v from the vehicle and raises it to 19.5v. I chose a 5A version which gives more than enough margin, as the PC 'brick' PSU is only rated at 2.37A

Now I can recharge my laptop whilst driving, instead of beg/borrow/steal an electric hook-up, whilst I travel.

Smile

Did the A service , plus brake fluid change - fairly easy if you have the correct spanner for the oil filter.

Tried to drain the sedimentor - gave up - impossible to access the drain underneath the fuel filter. How on earth do the garages do it at the annual service ? Or do they give up like me.

Haldex service next on the list - that is when I can get access to the hydraulic ramps next door. Jules

service required in 1900 miles flashing up on the dash

rang LR yesterday for a 5 year/64000 service quote............... £560 which I questioned and was reduced to £480 straight away with no argument but that was the lowest they could go. Big Cry

They no longer offer the 3+ servicing deal of £350 B service all in so its off to my trusted indy for a price next. Rolling Eyes

These were genuine LR service items purchased by me aabout a year ago after getting a 20% trade discount at LR Leeds:

B Service Items
Diesel Filter £34.65
Air Filter £17.76
Pollen Filter £15.82
Washer Sump £1.38

Opie oils (2 5lts delivered free with Freel2 discount code)
5.5 Lts Millers XF Longlife C1 5w - 30 circa £32.42

I did the service myself but your Indie can do this in less than 2 hours whatever his rate PH is. Anything over £300 all in for a B Service is theft. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
FL2 MY13 TD4 GS Current

Just did a search on "landrover 3+ year servicing" and quite a few places are still offering it on DL2 and Disco 3

eg

http://www.helstongarages.co.uk/land-rover...rs/3-plus/

https://www.hunterslandrover.co.uk/offers/servicing-offers/

Incidentally when I was out in Kenya recently with my son I noticed that he had a cardboard tag hanging off the indicator stalk on his Toyota Hilux. I asked what it was and he said that when you get the car serviced the garage puts one there to prove that the car has been serviced as there is no MOT and regular servicing is a requirement. As his useage is classified as harsh environment it gets service every 5k miles but the services only cost about £75 so not too much of a problem. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
