Its easy if you've got some basic technical ability. Ive done two of these now on both of my freelanders, just remember the colour coding for Land Rover is completely different to standard, & you'll be fine.

Your by-pass relay kit should have come with fitting instructions. If not, contact the supplier or manufacturer. If all else fails try Googling for a generic by-pass writing diagram. Whatever you do, do not connect your 7-pin cable to that plug or it’s wiring without learning how the bypass relay couples up.

I have the instructions for the bypass relay and am fairly confident in my ability to wire it up correctly!!

Dee, refer to the wiring diagram sticky in the Technical section. Page 39 shows the rear lamp units and their respective feed wires with colours. You should couple up your by-pass relay to the various circuits there although I must say, it is not my most confident route. The car has CAN-BUS and weird things can happen in the wrong hands. We have had instances of owners changing front side lamps (for instance) and one circuit failing although it worked before! DC electrics or AC, I am happy with - CAN-BUS? magicians magic! I would use only a dedicated loom or an Auto Electrician to be safe.

Discofan, your task is simple, as the wiring (to the car) is already in place. Dee is trying to wire a bypass relay, which is different.

Hi d-f. Agreed, solder joints are best. Having said that, my choc block joints have stayed secure and, don’t tell anyone, are no different to the screwed joints in all three fittings of your adapter! 🤫
