Nightfox,
Thanks for that info - i didn't realise.
I'll check with the dealer tomorrow.
I felt that the factory tint looked a bit gangsta with the black metallic paint!!
But I certainly don't want something that may scratch.
Thanks again,
Elaine

They just said on the radio the 'ole bill' are clamping down on window tinting to the extent thet will remove the car from the road. Previously you had a £0 fine but now you could face steeper fine and points in addition.

This is only if you tint the front windscreen and the two front side windows. These can only be tinted to 30% you must let 70% light through. Rear side windows and rear screen not a problem do what you want.

So if anybody is getting window film just watch the level you go to on the fronts as you may get a tug from plod!!

new here

Hi all.

I have been following the forums for about a month now as I am getting my FL2 delivered nxt wk! XS StornGy TD4 Man.

I am hoping to be lucky enough to have a fault free car...time will tell. Wink

As my name suggests I am having the car as a company car. My previous cars have been:

Renault 5 Campus 1.1
Fiesta Zetec-S 1.6
Audi A6 1.9tdi
Golf GTI TDI 150
BMW ES 320d
Audi A3 Sport 1.9tdi

I saw the freelander 2 on the car list and dismissed it outright. Surely I couldn't be seen in a 4x4???
I had my head set on a german saloon of some sort, but after sitting in BMWs and Audis I felt uninspired. I passed a LR dealership and thought I'd take a look 'just for fun'. Sitting in the FL2 I was immediately impressed, and a 3 day test drive later and I was convinced. The rest is history...

I managed to wangle some car mats out of the dealer but thats all.

Getting the rear widows tinted on collection in Maidstone by Image Tint. will post pics.

Happy motoring! Cool

It did the trick though Thumbs Up Another lamb to the slaughter Sheep Sheep Sheep Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter . Honestly, company driver, you will love it. Clocked up 10k miles now and mechanically faultless, just my electrical gremlins to contend with but these are not serious individually its just that I have had most of them on my car, where other people have only suffered one or two. The warranty and Landrovers buy back ploicy is there to protect you and as they have tried to fix my issues but failed are now replacing my car.....you can't knock that.

I still smile driving the car and get so many looks from other people, even now. you will enjoy.......believe me

Hi David, Basically under your statuory rights, if there is a fault with any product you buy (under the sales of goods act 1979 REVISED),you are entitled to your money back or a replacement....same goes for cars, however due to a cars complexity and value it is 'generally the norm' that your dealer has the opportunity to correct the defect first, as it is somewhat unfair to expect to return your car and have it replaced due to a blown bulb!!. So you take your 'faulty car' back to said dealer for repair. Generally the dealer repairs said fault and said customer returns home to said wife all happy that said fault was repaired and does not return to said dealer until first service is due. However!!!! said dealer is not that good and the fault is not fixed Evil or Very Mad so unhappy said customer Exclamation Customer takes car back dealer who fixes again, but actually doesn't fix it....this pattern repeats several times (as in my case). Once custmer is ':censored:ed off' that fault after several attempts of repair have failed you are under law entitled to either a replacement vehicle or your money back Thumbs Up I understand that LR also offer you a full refund even if you change your mind without any fault being found, ie you just hate the car..but this normally has to be actioned within say 30 days of receipt of vehicle, and since the car is great do not see this option being taken up.

In my case the car was off the road for two weeks in the first eight, with repeat repairs which is why I have excercised my right for replacement. A bloody shame as trhe car is bloody fantastic and as you will see from my gallery she looks great with the extras we put on.

So I have taken the option to replace the car, delete the rear screens (as I do not believe they are any good, so will get a retro specialist to fit them) but add auto box to the new car instead.

I would not hab=ve taken this path had the dealer been able to fix the gremlins I suffered, but am glad since I can upgarde to the auto box Thumbs Up

So far problems aside the car has put a huge smile on my face and I look forward to driving every day, even if stuck in traffic Thumbs Up

Well after a lot of stuffing round, getting the order wrong, delays and a very poor trade in $$$ I cancelled my order last week have have since purchased the new April build 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokke with DVD, sunroof etc.....

Little sad with the FL2 but now have a slightly larger jeep, fully optioned, diesel, full luxury, Sat Nav and ended up getting over $15K more trade in.......... IN Australia in the end my car cost $12k more but I'm in front because of the much higher tradde in.

In the end very happy and have had the car for 5 days and love the awesome 8 speaker Boston Aquistics sound system......

So thanks for everything guys/gals and maybe meet in 4x4 heaven one day........ Trust No-one but Yourself

Dutchie....................................... Jeep saw you coming m8. There's only one reason that you got such a "good" deal and that is because Jeep just cannot compete with the Freelander. It's the same here Jeep are offering unbelievable trade-ins and huge discounts to anybody considering a Jeep Cherokee. Just wait until you come to sell it........ How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?
