No it's more than that, apparently it's more about economy of scale which increases unit costs for lower volumes if you source from the UK versus import tarrifs if you have to buy in stuff from the EU. Either way we get shafted.

Rog after the Thatcher years there was next to no existing UK manufacturing left to invest in. Even HP brown sauce went abroad and that has a picture of the den of thieves on the label. Pure Asset Stripping and Short Termisem. Yes things needed change but apprentice training stopped and now you have the Polish plumber in every UK town. I have to agree with Bob that it was Thatcher who decimated manufacturing. I live in a town that still feels the effects 35 years later. I'm sure there will be differing views on whether she was right or wrong, but Brown and Blair had very little left to destroy by the time they came to power. |

And don't forget that Brown single handedly dismantled private defined benefit pension schemes by taxing dividends from investments retrospectively which has had the effect of creating huge pension fund deficits. I hope Mr Corbyn doesn't get the chance to upstage him. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

One of those go-around in circles but if you have no job do you really give a about defined benefits anything. A Government is tasked in securing its borders first but after that it should be dong its best for all the inhabitants not a select few.

Well at least engines won't be a problem should all be made in house before we leave. |

Yes, what happens to JLR's new engine plant in Wolverhampton given that they will have to stop selling cars with IC engines in 2040? In practice this means that well before that date people will start choosing cars with electric drive so I wonder how many years it takes to recoup the £500m investment in that plant? That business plan might look a bit of a dud now. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Can't see A Rabs worrying about plug and drive in 2040 . Mind you water in Saudi will cost more than oil then. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
