Website with full FL2 specs

I wondered why my auto SD4 won't go up a local hill in 6th whereas my previous TD4 manual would just do it and it's down to the gearing. The auto box is 37.8mph/1000 whereas the manual is 35.3. There is about 1/2 a gear difference (if you know what I mean). SD4 is much more leisurely on motorways as a result.

I came across this website with lots of engine and performance data which others might find useful.

Lots of info and nice to do comparisons between vehicles, power and torque graphs and many other things.
I used this site to compare the FL2 SD4 to my previous D3 V8 and it was a no brainer which will be the more relaxed towing vehicle with significant lower fuel consumption. Smile 2013 SD4 SE (hers)

All you've done is multipled by 4, not taking into account rolling resistance, wind resistance, etc.

The figure the factory use is normally an average on sausage test track (wind direction cancelled out), this can be improved upon, wind and tide behind ( though a broad reach may be better) a bit of mapping may also improve the top speed, spend a lot of money and you may well achieve 151 mph or more, any warranty excluded Laughing my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

The figures are roughly correct, just cruise in top and read the mph and revs and do the maths. Problem is reading it accurately.
Most cars will cruise at the peak of the torque curve. My SD4 auto usually sits between 1600/1900 which is where the torque maxes out. Do the maths and 70mph/37.8 gives 1850 rpm. Maximum power you need to think about what power is ie the rate of working or the rate at which it can overcome wind and mechanical resistance. If you look at something like a Porsche 911 its top speed of around 190 is not actually in top gear (but it will be doing about 7000 rpm).

I should add that I have not included a relativistic correction as Einstein would have done as the FL2 reaches light speed. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

yeh my SD4 Auto (and my old TD4 Auto) sits about 1800rpm at 70rpm, but in both it feels a little rough at that speed/rpm like the 6th gear is struggling.
so a 'slight' increase on the go pedal brings it out the struggling zone and into a smoother zone at about 73-75mph and around 1950rpm

The claimed top speed for the SD4 is 130mph. Mine was able to do this when new - at least according to the speedo. It was a bit scary though. The higher top gear ratio enables this - wouldn't work with the TD4 as not enough power.
Will be interesting to see what the stats are for the new SD4 version of the DS. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

Travelling on our endless flat straight roads at about 100 km/h with a slight tailwind the car would use about a litre less per 100 km as compared to a slight headwind. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I once had a Ford Galaxy as a company car and often had to drive up most of the M3 which runs roughly SW. The prevailing wind is often SW in the UK and there was usually a noticeable difference in mpg when coming home in the evening. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
