Netherlands 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 S Auto Zermatt Silver

A bit taken by surprise by the unexpected demise of my beloved Saab 9.5 at 325.000 K we had to decide which car to buy. So not wanting to buy a 9.5 again because of the uncertain future of the spares still being produced in Sweden we suffered a brainwave and hurriedly bought a 2008 Td 4 Freelander 2. Despite its age in almost new condition but sparsely equipped . We hope for many years of fun driving this superb car. From time to time IŽll have a question to ask or a remark to make and IŽll be back at this forum. Till then…….

United States 2008 LR2 i6 SE Auto Zermatt Silver
There goes the Neighborhood!

Thumbs Up Hello all,
Pleased to join in forum fun. I swear these venues are the best kept "secret" for nearly any vehicle repairs or information, and you don't have to visit the dealer to boot. I bought a 2008 LR2 about 2 years ago. Ours has the 3.2L i6 with the AWF21 tranny with a fun-filled Gen 3 Haldex coupler (my current nemesis). Generally speaking, it's a great SUV. Recently added a receiver hitch and am really impressed with the i6 power and handling. Love the command shift for Montana's many passes. Had a few stressful hiccups and many opportunities to learn about its inner workings thusfar. With a nod toward Ford and Volvo, my LR2 is mechanically identical to a 2008 Volvo XC90, and Volvo offers a great deal more public info on specialty engine, tranny, and drivetrain components. Thanks in advance for the opportunity to pick your brains.

Well that's the car sitting in our drive now. Before buying we just took it around a wee industrial bit, so the drive home was the first proper drive. It certainly feels nice and sturdy and rides the potholed mess that we call roads very well.

So far, so chuffed!
