They are the largest vehicle manufacturer in the UK, good to see they want to keep it that way and not move production elsewhere. Thumbs Up

Yes in cities would be my answer. The hybrid is coming and will have the biggest impact within the market place.

Another question is what will happen to all that unwanted diesel ? FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Dunno about the demise of diesel, but perhaps the demise of driving skills and common sense in the name of technology for technology's sake.

I'm rather sceptical about the future of the autonomous car and can't help but think it's all a bad idea...
So much to go wrong with a computer controlling a speeding chunk of metal through the "real world".
And what happens when it DOES go wrong? and it WILL...

Who do we blame when somebody gets hurt?
What happens when something goes wrong?
Does it carry on rolling out of control or slam on the brakes?
How can we expect drivers to concentrate behind the wheel if they've just spent three hours being driven autonomously on a motorway and come to a slip road that leads to a busy junction?
Not to mention how long the software/hardware will last and how much it will cost to replace if it goes wrong... Banging Head "We're in danger, we've got to get out."

A hybrid Porsche (919 iirc) won the Le Mans 24 hr by miles last weekend. 2litre turbo V4 with 4WD electric motors - about 900BHP.
Sign of the times - and it wasnt boring like the formula-e cars - it still made a really good sound Jules

Not if anyone has any sense it won't! Euro 6 petrol and euro 6 diesels are all euro 6 compliant so what is the difference?! It is just the green nut jobs trying to do away with cars as usual and realising the media will not raise the blatantly obvious point above so could create probs!

Slight tangent...
What about Adblue?
Can a diesel car run cleaner without having to need to add Adblue?
Is Adblue just another way of taxing the diesel car owner even more?

Now, I don't mind the idea of electrically-driven cars, but once these become the norm, no doubt the authorities will start to impose more charges on these too.
I can see why there are people out there who are sceptical to green motoring policies... "We're in danger, we've got to get out."

I think it will change pretty quickly. We are in the process of putting electricity into the garages in our block of units. Since we have 3 phase in the building we will put 415 volts in the garages which give us the option of 240 volts on 3 circuits if needed. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

"All that unwanted diesel?"

The hundreds of thousands of HGV's around the world will continue to burn it for years to come and our government will ensure they still get the same or more revenue from the motoring public despite us being forced to go greener. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

AdBlue is cheap as chips, my D4 didn't require a top up until its first service, my D5 should make it to its first service though it seems to burn more than the D4. AdBlue is the easiest way to reduce the Nox levels in a diesel car and it's no more of an effort than topping up the windscreen washers. I won't be giving up my diesel any time soon, I just wish they put the 4.4 SDV8 in the D5. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200
