England 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 Dynamic Auto Fuji White

Hi Guys,

Just bought my first Landrover, a FL2 Dynamic 2013. I was never sure about the pillars myself and the first thing I did was to "wrap" my "C" pillars in satin black.
I notice some members opted for colour coding the "D" pillars to match the car so my take give a very different look..........The privacy glass was factory fitted and the "C" pillar really did stand out along the side (in my humble opinion of course).
I used the plastic wrap rather than paint just in case I need to revert back to standard finish.

Howzit

Hi there

Just bought a MY10 TD4_e XS.

Owned an old Series III before for horse stuff and used a Defender at work for the last few years, but first time owning a LR as main drive.

Feels a bit limousine-like compared to the agricultural beasts that I have been used to but should make my 80 miles a day commuting a bit more comfortable.

I will probably have to resist the urge to tinker too much. Do most of the servicing myself but these have got too many sensors/chips etc to make anythig other than the basic bolt on stuff accessible.

Looking forward to picking the collective brains on here.

Other stuff in my life - big coffee geek (spent more on my coffee gear than my last car), sea kayaking/paddle-boarding, walking my nutcase black lab. Spent a fair chunk of my life living and working in Africa (Zim/Zam/Ghana) but now lurk in deepest darkest Cotswolds.

Hello

Hi all, I've been a Freelander 2 driver for a couple of years since my wife replaced her Freelander 1 (thank God!).
I actually find the car great to drive although as a day to day Defender driver, I'm starting to find the quiet comfort of the Freelander very appealing!
My main reason for joining is to try and locate some of the mounting hardware for a full height load guard/dog guard that I recently purchased on fleabay.
I'm off now to scour the forum for info!
Best Wishes
Mike

Hi Mike and welcome

The full height LR dog guard will function perfectly without the need for any of the brackets, except for the 2 extensions that slot in either side to brace against the C pillars. The rear seat will lock the guard in position.

You cant purchase the bracket kits separately, and most will have been left bolted into someones FL2 when they sold the car on.

The only time you may need to worry about the bottom brackets is if you need the guard up with the seats folded down.

RogB Very Happy

Thanks RogB!
My next step was going to be asking somebody who had the fittings to measure them so I could fabricate my own, so you have saved me a job!

IIRC there are only the 2 bottom brackets, fixed at the points on the guard and to the lashing eyes either side. (you have to remove the lashing eyes and then replace them through the bracket if that makes sense)

Essentially the brackets are about 6 inches long x 1 inch x 1/4 inch thick (very approximately) with a dog leg kink and bolt holes either end.

However because the guard hooks into the seat back locking bars, it is secured in place by the back seats when they are up.

Hope that helps a little.

That's great, thanks RogB!
I've also got a Hatchbag boot liner to fit so I'll get out there before the weather gets too bad!
I'd looked at the instructions here on the forum and thought that the fittings looked fairly simple but if I can bypass that, so much the better!
Thanks again for your input.
