Blimey, that's good going. Mines only got 40,000 on the clock and apart from the odd trolley dink is in remarkably good condition. However it now seems to fail it's MOT on silly things - mainly due to the lack of use. Always easily and cheaply rectified though. The rear belts were still clipped in from the previous year, and the MOT inspector couldn't believe it had only done 12 miles in 12 months !
Dad bought it new in 1998 at a cost of - wait for it - £12,500 !!!
He decided a couple of years back he wanted to replace it with another brand new one, same spec . That was only around £13,000 !
But then a fellow Land Rover acquaintance of mine offered me his father's Polo. A later model to dad's , all be it by 2 years, but with only 6,000 on the clock from new and receipts for a service every year at VW regardless that it was never driven. So dad took that for £700. He got an upgrade , of sorts , and it was in showroom condition.
